Here is a gas pumping hack for you all...I'm always going to BJ's for gas and they have the extra long hoses so you can park on the left of the pump...And since like 80% of cars have a left side gas cap everyone pulls to the right...So there always seems to be a left side pump open. I also like to clean my windows and headlights with the squeegee...and I hate holding that trigger for 6 minutes of filling...So I was toying around with using a quick vice clamp to hold the hose to the rail bed when I pump and then I realized the rail cleats can do the job for you if you just run the hose under and up...enjoy :)

I typically opt to either back in or just pull through from the other side when I visit the pumps, personally.

Some places get all bent out of shape if you fuel from the wrong side and pass it over the car. I've been yelled at before.

BJ's actually has a sign that says "Extra long hoses, fuel from both sides" or something like that...
I back in at Stop and Shop by my work because they have midget arm hoses that barely reach and there are only 4 pumps and I don't have the time to wait...

Some places will shut the pump off , if you put something in the handle like that. Fire codes are for a reason.

My BJs says that too, but I look at the hoses and don't see how there's any possible way they'd make it to the other side. Plus I've never seen someone do it. But there are probably 14 pumps so it's never an issue.

Many stations around here have clips on the nozzles to keep them running. All of the Shells do. I can't remember if our BJs does or not. I'll have to remember to look next time.

They should put the holders back on. It would eliminate people shoving the gas cap in the handle.

They were illegal in MA for a while. When they lifted the ban, the place at the end of my road put them back on, then removed them again about a month later.

I agree it would be the best solution. Once in a while I run into a place that still has them

Never done it, they have been pretty reliable. You thinking of making a built motor or just a general rebuild?

Keep an eye out for a transfer case to make a doubler or lefty as a project if you find one.

Where in Western MA are you? I live in northern Berkshire county, work in central Berkshire county, and I'd bet 2/3 of the stations I've seen have them.

I've got split personalities depending on the subject at hand.
