I do not like how Red Cross is managed. Period. However! When we lost our entire home in July due to wildfire, they were the ONLY organization here with boots on the ground getting assistance for the 60+ families who lost everything. The ONLY group.

and now politics are involved ..... does anyone follow the rules here lol
no one was talking about politics, just morals

i morally cant support anyone who's first reaction to a Red Cross check is to better there possessions. If the house was truly damaged then im sorry for that. But the fact that he came on TW to ask what to do with the money vs, using it to fix his house tells me something isnt right here. Just my opinion.

That's probably because his homeowner's insurance will be fixing his house. Maybe he'll use it for his deductible, if they didn't waive it?

My dad works with Red Cross and says the same thing. He hates the way they operate, but they do help people and he loves that part of it.

if his house was truly damaged then that sucks, and i feel for you. But to me you should have more to worry about then decking out your ride with Charity money ...

Right?! That's one of those quotes that if you were about to fist fight someone and that's what they said right before you fought, you just stop, apologize, and hand that man a beer.

No doubt...he has insurance...and FEMA is helping with home damage. The money should be going to people who lost their home, or need it to address actual personal needs....consider how much money donated to American Red Cross actually goes to people that need help?
