It was somewhere along the Donner Pass on Interstate 80. About 7,000 feet.

I believe the front differential, transmission, transfer case, crossmember, shifter assembly, etc. put about 1,000 pounds in the bed. Plus I had a passenger up front. It was about a 7% grade for 10 miles - at one point it was so bad the truck was throwing me a CEL (the first time I've ever gotten one) about a P0171 - System too Lean Bank 1. I just stayed in the truck lane for most of the incline and descent because I didn't want to push the engine more than I was at that point. The 4 cylinders aren't very powerful as I've come to imagine.

My truck is slower than yours

I have fatty Mcfatty 4 doors and the mighty 2.7L

I took it up he grapevine and I had 700 lbs of dates in the back from the farm

I was able to maintain 60mph in 3rd gear (OD off)

Since my poverty spec has no tach I have no clue at rpm

But it was screaming all the way up

That's a lot of damn dates! I'd love to see a picture of that haha.

I could've brought the truck to 60 if I really wanted to, but I would be close to redlining it.

Oh man I have a cold air intake. My truck wasn't screaming, it was yelling bloody murder. I couldn't believe how loud that damn thing is when the truck has a load and you're going up a grade.

I didn't even realize they made double cabs without tachs. I thought that was a 95-00 thing. Hm.

We own a date farm :)

    Didn’t grab a pic
    But will do next time

Thinking of retiring the gen 1 from the farm and get a 17/18 SR for the farm

I think you need a Tundra and a dump trailer for that, lol. I used the truck to haul a load of concrete pilings and it handled and braked worse than an aircraft carrier.

Toyota made the Tacoma to focus more on comfort and usability, not neccesairilyt to be a workhorse. Or so I'm told.

    Dump trailers are for sissies

Ever see trucks in third world counties ? They haul a lot more than we do

In Europe people are towing with prius and mercedes sedans

Due to our litigious society laws are written in a way our tacoma can’t tow and we need a f450 dually for everything

Compare a car you buy here to Europe
    Same exact car
    Vastly different tow ratings

My Tacomas are work horses. They are work horses in Thailand and Afghanistan

They can be here too, land of over maintained trucks driven by pussies

Funny you mention Mercedes. I have a 2000 E320 with the v6 and here in the U.S. it has no official towing capacity. The Euro spec has a towing capacity of 4,629 pounds. More than my truck!

22 3/4 maybe? It’s the same as my 4runner with OME 883s and bilstiens on the lowest setting. I’ll check when I get home but I have the camper on for hunting season so it might be a little off. FJ coils have me about a 1.5 lift and the bilstiens gave me another 1-1.25 if I remember right.

Ha tell me about it. Been wanting to replace them but want to retrofit at the same time so didn't want to bother refinishing them again. Already refinished once back in 2014 or so. But I have a big trip planned with a ton of night driving so I actually ended up refinishing them really quickly this morning. Haven't taken a pic yet though.
