    I have a 2007 Tacoma TRD 4.0

the airbag warning light came on, took it into my garage, they said it was some thing going on with the drivers side? and or the wiring spring in the steering wheel. I got the impression that they didn't want to get into it.

    any suggestions? Thanks

Sounds like a broken clock spring. Should be a recall on your truck. Dealership will take care of it for free.

Usually it's the clock spring and you may have a recall on it. So check that first.
If not you can replace it yourself. There are write ups on here about it. If you buy a knock off spring like me make sure it has the steering wheel controls, if you have them.
    Good luck!

The clock spring (not 'coil') [aka "Spiral cable"] is a wire in the steering wheel that connects to the airbag. It failed in my 2005, after the 36,000-mile full warranty point, and I must have been the first? I had to pay like $300 to fix, so the light would go off (and make sure the airbag worked in a collision). After I traded my '05 for my '10, I saw that a recall did come out and this being a safety issue was fully covered. You should be able to search this forum for the recall or at least TSB number?

10-4, many Baja Nomads here in TW, including 'TW', who is TMW on both forums now.
I thought I read here that the spiral cable/clock spring wire fail was covered, after I paid for mine to be fixed. Keep searching and you should find members here who posted their dealers took care of it. Maybe it was just good PR on the dealer end and and not Toyota corporate?
