Truck is getting aligned right now. Gonna have to do a cab mount chop b/c even after removing the front mud flaps and trimming plastic, tires are still rubbing :pout: Totally worth it though :mudding:

I'll post some pics this afternoon.

CMC is a given for anything above 265's, go home with an angle grinder and cut that bitch out. Then get some metal or order from Relentless or company of the same and get a welder to close it up

    Really?

I'm running 285s without a CMC, and rub only very occasionally.

I wonder if my Camburg UCAs have anything to do with that?

I also have wheel spacers, which I've heard makes them more susceptible to rubbing the cab.

That's the plan. Who do think can get them here faster, Relentless or BAMF?

Oh I thought that was a given with 285's. Must be your backspacing on the rims then, every 2nd gen with 285's that I know of had to do CMC :notsure:

I mean they both are good quality. I'd go with Relentless just because they're closer in that they're based out of Nevada and they're a dollar cheaper haha

I'm hoping I can get the cab mount chop done before driving to FL Friday. I hate having to take wide ass turns lol.

This might get some shit, but do you torque everything to spec when installing shit? I never have. I just get everything good and tight :crapstorm:

Insain fab and Metal tech has the cmc kits, that ive been looking at. both of these look to cut the the cmc back farther than the other guys. Insain are costly at 50 and Metal tech at 20.
    https://www.metaltech4x4.com/metal-tech-5th-gen-4runner-body-mount-chop-kit/

Metal tech does not have one listed for the tacomas, but I emailed and they told me the 5th gen 4runner will work on our 2nd gens tacomas. Just throwing these out there as an option as well. As much as the Insain fab cuts out, I cant see spending 50, so I'll probably go with the metaltech myself.

I do just because I have one and with my engineering back ground I see the importance of it. But if you don't I'd do it the German way.....

    ....goodentight.....

And Metaltech makes real quality stuff, talked to them for like 30 minutes at Expo East. Got super nerdy with engineering and what not, pants got a little tight too :anonymous:

Only thing I worried about were the rear shocks because you can basically tighten those infinitely. I looked at the bushings and they were so compressed I don't see how they didn't tear, so I loosened those a little.

I've been needing an excuse to buy a torque wrench anyway, so I may just do that for peace of mind

They are $10 at habor freight. Sure they may be off by a 2% but I can't justify spending a lot on a tool I don't use for precision work. I got both the 3/8 and the 1/2 from them.

That'll work, I would just hit the bolt a few times to make sure it's "acutally" at that setting. Like if it needs to be 100 N/m I'd torque it down a few times

Right there with you. I've been using the $10 1/2" harbor freight special for a year now. I compared it against a Craftsman and they were close enough that I couldn't tell the difference between the two.
