I took the day off for a 4 day weekend since my son was out of school. I was cleaning my house when I saw a gray Impala parked in front of my house. The car left, turned a U turn and parked across the street. A punk kid gets out....goes and messes around at the front door and heads to the side of the house.....he gets almost there and hauls ass to his car. I get the license number and the car leaves.
The car comes back like 4 times. I call my neighbor at work and ask if he might know the person. He says no and I say I'll keep an eye out.
I go out side and see the car in the alley behind his house.
I call 911 and report it. 911 says it may be a Census worker. I say not in the alley.
The cop comes down the street and I point where the car is. He speeds to the alley. Next thing I know 6 cops come speeding down the street and surround the house.

I called my neighbor and said you better get home..NOW!

They come out of the backyard with the guy in handcuffs.

He took a sledge hammer to the back dead bolt....broke a window out and had a Wii, 2 guns, a knife, credit cards and prescription medications. He told the cops he was a heroine addict...19yrs old! He had propped the couch against the front door so no one could get in. The cops said he was responsible for at least 5 other burglaries in town.

So looks like I may get to testify in court.

My neighbor can't thank me enough. He said any beer I want is on him. :D

So much for my day off...spent most of it talking to police......but to know a scum bag is off the street is reward enough! Glad I was off today!

You sir are a bad ass. It is probably a good thing you didnt approach him, especially if he had guns and knives on him. You are an awesome neighbor.

There's a few of us on the block that are good friends. We keep an eye out for one another and the neighborhood in general....watch the kids when they're bike riding, etc

This is a good neighborhood, a lot of retirees. We don't need this element around!!!

    Stupid mistakes on his part.

A pro would have been in and out of there before you even had a chance to figure things out.

Thank you for calling 911! We need more people like you, and less people who don't give a shit.
