    Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
    for pitting, if you really care cosmetically, spray with a "sandable primer". After sanding, it should look smoother. Then spray your color coat. Satin is better than gloss at hiding.

    Here's what I'm about to, I think. Found a Toyota OE remanufactured axle through the dealership for $200. Toyota shaft, boots, the works. Comes with a 12 month warranty. Going to grab it and put it in the truck.

    Then going to reboot my original to have as a spare.

    All OEM, zero downtime.
