Made it to Philmont right before I aged out. One of the best memories from Scouts

    3 Eagle Palms.

Back before the PC nazis shat all over the organization.

I’m about ready to give mine back!

I'm all for inclusiveness of gay, trans, athiest, and all that as it should never have been an issue in the first place but this is just "LOL,WUT"?

I'm in the prime of the "millenial" demographic as much as I hate that term, but this just seems a little too far of a social stretch. If you wanna go this route, how about just collapsing both the Boy and Girl Scouts and just making "The Outdoor Scouts" or some PRish title? Not trying to flame anybody, but I really am having a hard time making sense of this decision.

I know its a really sensitive issue these days now that there are like 900 Million "genders" with some actual sciencey data to back it up but what does this mean for the Girl Scouts? Sure, they may not have as much of a historical background, but surely they don't want to see members cannibalized to the Boy Scouts...

Based on what I have heard from former GS members, they should have focused on the restructuring of the GS..

So im about to have a girl in December. When I found out I was having a girl one of the first things I thought was im going to loose out on being a part of boy scouts. Honestly got excited this morning when I read that article. I hope they don't change the scouts. I want my daughter to shoot guns, use knives, build fires, backpack, learn to survive, and learn good values. To me girl scouts is nice and all but missing most of what I enjoyed in scouts. If girls wanna be in scout and can meet all the requirements then more power to them. Maybe im a softy cuz im going to be a father. Just my two cents.

If I have a girl one day, I would want to teach her all those skills myself since the GS doesn't really do those things.

I agree Nick that this is a good idea; on paper. This will open up a whole other can of worms for things like sexual harassment lawsuits and even stricter leader background checks.

Cons seem to outweigh pros here..

If my girl wanted to do this, I would commend her and let her know how hard she will have to work and that I would be there for her through the entire process; physically be there. To keep an eye on her and those around her; specifically the male leaders and male scouts. We all know boys will be boys.. Especially in that environment...

Very true. Good news is my daughter will have 5 years before she is even ready for cub scouts so we have some time.

100% agree. I think the Boy Scouts really does teach a lot more life skills from what I have heard/seen from when my sister was in the Girl Scouts. I do want to know their plan to address issues similar to @geekhouse23 brings up though. They had a hard enough time keeping the creepers out before this...
