Raspberry Island. Views were amazing, but once he shot his elk he had quickly realized his mistake. With him and his 2 guides, they packed the 400 pounds of meat into their packs and hiked 10 miles back to camp.

Utah, the one is seriously probably a mile from the nearest 4 wheeler trail and under a ledge. I don't at why anyone would be up there.

The "s" is what throws me. I haven't seen that in a petroglyph.

Now the eyes of the cat could be medicine man symbols.

I don't hesitate on them. They are prolific and really have near zero predation outside of man. I'm up for playing my role, but I do feel better when the hide is preserved/used. I'd rather see more fox and bobcats...

Raspberry is a cool place. Way too many hungry bears though. Did he see many? That's a very nice elk for there. Most are huge in body but only so-so for horns.

He saw a few. Killing an elk there is like ringing a dinner bell.

IMG_0373.jpgFound this deer a cat had tried to hide. Very fresh, it appeared it had been dragged around 15 yards. Could be wrong but find it hard to believe a bobcat could drag a full grown deer. Maybe Mt. Lion in north central Wisconsin????

Had a great day grouse hunting today on our Wisconsin trip this week. Got two more days to go.

Bobcats are pretty tough. I know it's not the same but it's comparable.

I've seen lions drag fully grown elk, it was in the snow but it's still pretty crazy.

Tasty. I always carry a 22 when I'm out on my four wheeler and end up with a mixed bag of spruce and ruffed. Ruffed gets eaten right away, spruce gets saved for making spicy food.

I've never seen a bear take down a deer, elk, fawn, or calf. I'm sure it happens but from my experience bears would much rather eat the maggots than fresh meat.

I think bears get a bad rep cause they're big enough to steal other animals kills cause they're bigger, and because of that they get seen on the kill more, making people think they've killed it.

I guess it could be. Does a bear attempt to conceal a carcass with leaves? The only eaten meat was on the leg. Now the lower back and rear end had the hide all scratched off. Had a good 4 day hunt so far with two to go.
