It's not exactly safe no matter how you do it.

    But it works.

I mean, you can sort-of get away with it in a pinch on flat land, but if the cradle on the jack isn't seating flat against the inside of the receiver your asking to get fucked. But you could still use the hi-lift as a come-along.

I understand that working with Hi-Lift is not exactly safe (lol), I was wondering about hitch weight rating and stuff. I mean, in a pinch, we might do stuff that we wouldn't normally dream of doing. But... how badly would we fuck things up trying to recover that way??

I actually got mine off of Amazon and it was the correct one. That's weird that they sent you something different. Mine was completely squared off ends and no angles. Hopefully you get your refund and the eBay one works out for you.

Haven't done yet. I always told myself I wanted to tackle suspension first then do all the fancy stuff later. But when @Baja Designs gives a really good deal on a thing... It makes you do things.

Ha ha, right! Believe it or not, if you didn't know it was all in there, you wouldn't know. Short of the trauma kit, powertank and fire extinguisher mounted to my bed rails, everything else is concealed and secure. I'm a stickler for keeping things clean and out of sight, so it took some planning and careful arranging, with a bit of Tetris mastery, but everything is hidden..

But it's nice to be prepared for whatever. I spend a fair bit of time far far away from anyone, so self reliance is a huge priority

Almost finished carpeting the flooring in the access cab. I'm just trying to source some rubber mat for the underside. The floor boards are reversible so I can have either carpet or rubber up. The idea was copied off someone else on here. The Harbour Freight socket set fits perfectly in the middle and creates a very flat stable platform.

This one was put on by Orange County Overland. I've been meeting up with a few guys in Pico Rivera on a semi weekly basis though.
