What about my 6.5X.250AI? Is it a good time to bring it up?

you're never gonna improve on the 6.5x55 Swede.........been around since 1894..for a reason.......

Forming brass for a 6.5x250AI would be a real PIA.......dies would be expensive..........not worth the effort.......

sorry to burst your bubble........I know of the AI cartridges........have a heavy 223AI for precision p/dog removal......

Even the younger plain Jane 260 Rem is tough to bet in the 6.5mm......

Mostly being facetious as the 6.5X.250AI and the 6.5CM are basically the same thing.

So, since this thread is about rifles, tell us about yours. I assume custom as there are very few 6.5X55 LR rifles made. Also assume you handload as there are very few factory loads for LR use. That is where the 6.5CM excels. You may not like the 6.5CM, but in factory form you'll be hard pressed to beat it with anything.

Personally, my favorite 6.5 is the 6.5X57 and any stutzen in that chambering makes me weak in the knees. Of course those aren't LR rifles, so not relevant here.

Oh, you might want to check your keyboard. Looks like your period button is malfunctioning. ;)

Yes if Savage is custom ..my target 6.5x55 I assembled myself as with all my dog guns..Savage target action with a 28" Pac nor 8 twist barrel SS with no taper glass is Bushy 4-30 tact...weighs 18# dry..Choate varmint stock...the CM never interested me...the reason I didn't know or care the parent case..Hornaday developed the CM to peak new interests in the 6.5...which it has..All about marketing...whether guns or trucks...have not bought CF rifle ammo for 45 yrs...ole fart...no my period works fine

Depending on what some call LR....here's my 20-222..600+ yd p/dog removal tool

    Savage Target action...Pac-Nor 9 twist tube....Vortex PST 6-24x50 glass

Choate stock.....17# as shown......previous chamber in this barrel was a 20BR......

This cartridge has to be near perfect in the p/dog patch....soo mild mannered & accurate.......

Took my Long Range rifle for a walk in the woods in search of some elk today. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to feel that sweet recoil she has!

100% confident out to 800 yards. That's taking everything into account. 30 Nosler has no problems reaching out and touching something. Lots of time behind the gun and shooting one of the best bullets made.

Ouch! Haha. The ELDX shoots great. But my 190 ABLR's @ just shy of 3200fps shot better ;) haha

Thought I would post up and get some pointers from the pros in here.
It's a Springfield Armiey M1A in .308 I picked up a while back. I have only put about 20rds through since I still need a scope, which is where I could use some help.
Suggestions on a scope that won't break the bank($500 ish) but still last and sight well for the .308 round. I did get a Basset scope mount but could go another direction of needed.
    Thanks :hattip:
