It's like telling people don't forget to change your baby's diaper. You don't announce it but it's left to your discretion.

This. I don't detail by any means. I spray it with degreaser and wash with a mitt when I wash the truck (separate mitt). Still looks decent after 130k miles...

Nice and clean! Except it looks like one of your ignition cables is off the clip.

I've been putting off doing a full detail til my new battery hold-down comes in. Then I'll have no excuse, why have a shiny new hold-down and a dirty engine bay?

His 2001 Mazda and my 2001 Ranger were the same exact trucks, so that made DIY repairs that much easier.

That’s how it says to orient the cables in the manual. I have no idea why that clip isn’t used. I thought it would be for a vacuum hose (it’s rather large) but nope

Mine came like that from the factory too, it includes those clips that go over the timing belt cover. I just left it alone.

I guess the reason some people have dirty engine bays is the thought process goes 'meow, who cares. No ones gonna look under the hood anyways'.

Bah! Every time my cars go into a wash bay I hit the engine with soapy water, let it sit while I do the rest of the vehicle, then hit it with the rise water and call it good. Never in 30+ years have I had a problem. Why? Because modern engines, are designed to get splashed and wet. Like scocar says who has that much free time? Dang, tell me what you do cause I want to do it too. Oh and seriously, don't change your oil every 3,000 miles.

'Who has that much free time?'

Free time to... clean your Tacoma? The Tacoma that you love and cherish so much so that you joined a Tacoma-specific forum to talk about your Tacoma?

BTW, jsi, that 'rinse' water is fine. What isn't fine is the pressurized water from an actual pressure washer that comes out at 1200+ psi. You don't want to put that anywhere near bearings or electrical connections, because it *will* find its way there.

This, my dad pissed me off when he did that to my mom and my sisters car. I had to clean and add di-electric grease to the damn electric plugs, all of them.

edit: I'm not anal but it caused issues down the road. Just a couple months back I ended up buying a whole engine harness for my sisters car because she was having start issues. I took that home and re-did the whole thing. I drove 9hrs back home to get it done for her.

And I bet you change your oil every 3,000 miles too. :rofl:I'm here partially to refute bs :crapstorm: which is rampant. Oh and I use the high pressure rinse. No problems 30+ years YMMV
