My "plan" involves short run Friday afternoon after we get moved in and settled, possible short run Friday evening. LOOOOOONG ride Saturday, maybe a couple hours Saturday evening or consuming mass quantities of grain based fluids, then a short ride Sunday morning, maybe even starting before daybreak. (Go up to one of the overlooks and watch the sun come up). Then home.... Gonna get my monies worth this year.

Got 2 different options for rides this weekend. Toyota group meeting @ Dirty Turtle. It's close, albeit not the greatest trails on earth. A much better prospect is at Badlands (Northwest of Indy) Sort of a training day for newbies, and some of the Midwest Overlanders there to do recoveries as needed. May do that. Or...May go ahead and swap coils this weekend. Was waiting until AFTER Harlan, but what the hell...

Hey I know the Louisville area well, I go up there often to visit fam. We'll be leaving Friday morning. Was planning around 530-630 ish. Your an hour ahead of me so I'll catch up to that time zone. I'll look into the route we'll be taking and maybe we can meet up around bowling green or something.

Bowling Green will be off the beaten path quite a way. Avoid I65 completely....I'm just south of Louisville. (North of Bardstown) @Brussell56. Taught me a quicker way from here to Harlan last year. We go down 150E (Bardstown Rd leaving Louisville) and pick up I75 north of Corbin, then head east to Harlan from Corbin exit. Save about an hour over 64/75 route from where I live. (See post 2 spots below)

If I'm leaving from Louisville I'll be taking I64 east, I75 south to London, then hwy 25. If from my house and not work, hwy 150, hwy 127, hwy 25. Probably wouldn't cross paths until London assuming you took Cumberland Parkway bwtween I65 and I75.

We will leave Mt Washington around 9-ish Friday morning. I misunderstood what part of Ky you're starting from. Thought you were starting in Louisville. We'll be passing through Corbin around 11/11:30am fri.

Going to bed here in just a few minutes. Early meetings tomorrow. So I may be too busy to post much in the morning.....and you know what? Tomorrow there will be just 15 days until HARLAN!

List is now @ 40. I expect a few more drop outs and no shows. No avoiding that....Life happens. Also have 8 to 10 that aren't on the list that should be there. (Mix of all sorts of vehicles) Anyone following, please quote/respond if you are/aren't going to make it. I'm trying to get a handle on group size for Saturday's long ride. If you can, comment on how you view your truck...ie stock, built, badass rock crawler, etc... This will help with planning route. May split into smaller groups where some of us may go on red trails. Trying to look out for those who want to stay on green/blue trails.

    $0.02...

Highly reccommend splitting in to 3 or more groups if you have 40 rigs coming.

Already on that. Plan is to do groups of no more than 10 or so. Paired up by stock vs built vs extreme (capable of black trails)

Prefer small groups. Ideally, 5 to 7.

Knowing how things work in real time, I am expecting 30 to 35 at the most.

I have a basic idea of what stockers can do well with and will suggest they stay on that line. I'm into some more "exploring" this year. Will do quite a bit of red trails. Highly suggest breaking into smaller groups of like minded drivers. But there's a lot of first timers here that will probably want some guidance. But....No way I want a group of 40 nose to tail.... That slows everyone down too much.

Way back in 1980, I was part of a group that took a newspaper writer on a trail run. We had 25 trucks lined up to go, which would have been a bit excessive on it's own. Word got out and we had over 100 show up. The trail we were on was only 8 miles long. We still had trucks on the pavement leading into the trail when some of the first were exiting the other end. It became a fiasco. NO FREEKIN' WAY I want a repeat of that.

I'm good with groups of 5 to 10. Just wanting a handle on how many will be in the woods at any one time. Gotta make certain everyone has fun and no one is left in the hills and hollers! Those of us familiar with Black Mountain will hopefully assist some of the first timers with a suggested route so they don't get into things they don't really want to get into.
