This is the fix for the RA series Tacoma release bearing issues.

    https://www.urdusa.com/product/throwout-bearing-upgraderepair-kit-2005-tacoma-v6-6-speed/

Had this on on my FJ on the 3rd transmission that the dealer warrantied in it for the aluminum release bearing guide breaking off the housing. Fixed the squeaky bearing but I lost faith in the truck and sold it.

It is not the fluid in the hydraulic clutch system causing this it is the boots on the actuator rods for the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. Took the time to remove the boots on mine to verify this. The rubber compound used to make them gets really stiff in cold weather and returns to shape very slowly.

I have been seriously thinking about drawing up plans for a billet aluminum pedal with oilite bronze bushings and a grease fitting.

Thanks for a very technical and accurate appraisal why my clutch gets so stiff in zero temperatures. Like most I thought it was the fluid only. Never figured it to be rubber boots in the clutch system

I am not sure i buy the rubber boot explanation, on my 08 Tacoma the clutch did not have a separate reservoir as it shared the Brake Fluid Reservoir and did not have a slow reacting pedal in frigid temps. My 2015 and 2017 have a separate clutch reservoir on the inner fender and both of those had slow reacting pedal in the cold.

Interesting. The Sport must use a single reservoir, as thats what I have.

I am speaking specifically for the trucks with the individual reservoir. The boots for them appear to be made from XNBR and it is at the end of its operating temperature range around 0* F so it lines right up with issues we have. It is entirely possible that the combined reservoirs have a different rubber compound or a stronger internal return spring. I can not speak for them first hand as I have not had one apart.

    Little reference material for this.

if the federal EPA is to have its way there would be no manual transmissions for the consumer... cant control the emmissions as well as they can with an automatic.

The Off Road has a different style brake booster and Master Cylinder as it controls the ATRAC System.

I wonder how they test it. My sticker said 15/18. I've been able to meet or exceed that after a lift and larger tires.

It is a specific cycle of dyno testing. There's a city cycle and a highway cycle. I've struggled to get those MPGs with slushboxes but always met or exceeded them with MTs.
