I agree with this, I just would like to figure it out. NO regrets in buying a 3rd gen, just want to come up with a solution if one is possible.

Forgive me, but is this sarcasm or legit? Too funny if a Toyota rep actually suggested this to you as a way to not hear odd noises.

Absolutely the truth. They told me they'd have to start charging me to fix my squeaking leaf springs if i continued to drive the truck in dirty or dusty environments.

Don't need it now. One of my rear shocks was leaking at 23k miles and since I have already been tired of Toyota excuses and needed something better for the roads I drive on the weekends I spent $1500 on parts and installed 6112s/5160s with 3 leaf AAL in rear. In my write-up linked below in my sig you can see how I addressed the squeaking issue with energy suspension grease between all leafs. Have not had a squeak since.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.

Are you talking to me? I do not think my truck has any.

I hope it happens again, or he sells it.

Dammit. I knew I was on to something. Whiney diffs, identity politics. These trucks ARE going politically progressive. Not looking good...

    ***UPDATE***

Sunday I met @tweakit88 out at the Slab in Montovallo to see if there is anything we could come up with. First step was to find a hill about 40-45 degrees and see if I could make it smoke and ping. This did not take very long at all, went up the hill unlocked to let the engine work and within 3mins I was smoking like a SOB! Like always the ping happened and the smoke was right with it.

@tweakit88 popped the hood and listen to see where it was coming from. Sounds like it was coming from the back of the engine.

I backed down and the truck was idling rough still smoking but no ping. So I turned it off and we got the tools out. First thing we do is pull the rear spark plug on the passengers side and it is covered in oil!!

Put it all back together, so I guess the next step is to take it into Toyota. :notsure:

@tweakit88 decides he is going to try the same hill and see if his truck does the same thing. Low and behold it does, pinging and smoking like a SOB.:censored:

We did not, I am thinking it might be a good idea to pull one on the front. They are just a lot harder to get to so we did not at the time.

Wish we could pulled the engine apart more to see where the oil is coming from but i figured toyota would throw a fit about that. And a the trail is not a good place for that lol.
