Drilled rotors aren't the way to go period unless they are very high end and used in a "race" application.
Do they catch mud and rocks though? The very basis of the design itself is to excavate things. Ever looked at ATV rotors or dirt bike rotors? Do a quick Google search and you'll see how crazy their rotors are.

I don't feel these will be inadequate. Seemed to be well used here on the forum, and I've heard of the company well before my membership here. Old me would get plain ol Auto zone or advance oem replacements, I wanted a slight bump above.

    science!
F that, nevermind, not getting into it.
Basically, it won't make much of a difference most of the time, if ever, for most of us.

I feel like there was going to be talk of gasses, and now I feel let down. Also having space for crud to go vs the pad trying to wipe it all off a solid rotor seems better to me. I also think we're being very nit picky, and new decent quality brakes, no matter what kind, should be better than worn out old brakes. BTW, I need new brakes.

I don't feel they will be either. Powerstop has been around for awhile. They make good big brake kits and such. You'll be just fine.
A flat tire against a flat concrete road is pretty good too. Until that road gets dirt, mud, ice, snow, rain, gum, cum, banana peals, bird shit or human remains on it then it stops being so good ....

    How's that for science!?

If I ever get tired of the Baja wheels, I'll go to 17" and then bigger brakes. But I'm pretty partial to this wheel design

That should be the permanent TN forum banner pic. I would summon a mod to do so, but I'm afraid someone else would get mushroom stamped with the ban cock.

According to what that thread says people get banned for, we should all be banned. Could you imagine this thread without banable substance? ....

Some guy: "HELP!!!! What size lift do I need to fit 33" tires?"

    Some other guy: "What's lift?"

Some other guy different then the first some other guy: "LIFT is a taxi like service where people will come and pick you up from ....."(interrupted)

Some other guy different from the first some other guy and the other some guy that's different from the first some other guy that are both different from the first some guy that's different from this some other guy: "This thread sucks."

I was thinking about that. If they're gonna ban one of us they might as well ban the entirety of the TN thread bc almost anything we talk about is banable material.

The science of braking is a real thing. A car is a rolling physics lesson. It really is amazing to kind of think about.

That science says that THE MORE METAL in a brake rotor, the better off you are. More metal, more heat it can absorb and dissipate.

This is why I NEVER turned rotors when I was tech. I always replaced rotors. Turning rotors is basically ripping off a customer. You are making their braking performance worse (by removing metal) and charging them money to do it. It literally is insanity. Every rotor is "slotted" if you technically think about it, plenty of vanes in the center of a rotor separating the solid halves.

You are going to stop a lot better on new rotors than you ever would on turned/machined thinner rotors. Hence, you will stop better on standard rotors than ones with holes or slots. Yeah, yeah, car makers use them. I have never heard a convincing reason that they are superior in any way.

The drilled and slotted stuff is very gimmicky. The world lies to take your hard earned money.

Now, you can do some cool shit to rotors. Like cryogen (iirc) freeze them. Makes them insanely hard.

I run a carbon metallic brake pad with a standard rotor right now. They didn't have the high end carbon rotors in stock when I picked up brake parts. I have zero complaints about my trucks braking ability. Its solid and I can bring that 5 thousand pound beast to a halt pretty quick...if I need.

I saw Toyota makes TRD performance brakes. They were red. I kinda wanna check those out, see if they are legit or not.
