Im itching to shoot something with my bow. my bow has been getting weird on me or its just me. Seems like its on then the arrows drift to the left, I adjust then it drifts too much to the right. It might be I havent shot that much but it doesnt seem consistent.

And make sure you’re not gripping your bow, that can really throw inconsistencies in your rhythm

Make sure everything is tight. Then, shoot one arrow, one arrow only. Focus on that ONE shot, and execution of a perfect shot. Wash rinse repeat for a dozen or so arrows and put the bow away for the night. Focus on form.

When is the last time you had it tuned? Not shooting much can be the problem tho

I had to get the rear peep sight string that holds it in re-served so I had my bow guy take a look at it. I told him the same thing you guys are saying...it very well could be me. Hes going to check the tuning etc see whats going on with it, if anything. Also could be my arrows but they are consistent in the direction they go so Im thinking something has come loose or is wearing out. He said he will call me in a couple days if he finds anything major.

I lost quite a bit of confidence the last spike I shot that got away...It hit hard and knocked him down but wasnt mortal. I must have hit him square on the shoulder bone otherwise it would have double lunged him. I still enjoy it but I suppose I need to just kill a nice doe to redeem myself. I am not ready to give up bow hunting yet.:)

ouch yeah Ive been told a couple stories like that. One guy told me he kept looking at the arrow right before he released the arrow. And was trying to quit it but when the big boy appeared he looked at the arrow as he released and knows he had a bad hit on it and never did find it. He said he was sick to his stomach...

Couple of tips....and this is what works for me YMMV.... Never watch the arrow. Focus on the spot you are aiming for. Some successful archers focus on the pin, I prefer to stay focused on the target. Let the pin float on the spot. Any effort to "force" the pin to stay on target will introduce torque, and torque be bad. Focus on the spot, while pulling thru (with back muscles) with your release and getting a surprise release. Stay focused on the spot till the arrow hits home. If I start to have issues with form or release, I will take a few evenings and shoot "blind" from several yards back. Basically, stand a few yards from your target, draw anchor, etc, but do it with your eyes closed. The goal is to focus on a nice smooth surprise release. Of course safety is first!! And like I said previously, shoot one arrow at a time, focusing on form.

What I tried to instill in my son, is that I don't want perfect groups, I want "perfect" form. Perfect groups will follow. One thing I have always done, is try to keep it fun. Balloons, tick-tack-toe, cherry tomatoes, I even pinned up one dollar bills and told him "you hit it, it's yours" He cleaned me out. And no, he didn't feel guilty.

And lastly, and this is the tough one. As soon as you start shooting poorly, put the bow away. It typically reinforces what ever you're doing wrong and frustration levels increase and who needs that. I shoot a bow cuz I love watching the fletching spiral into the target, albeit paper, foam, or deer.

I like your write up of your explanation. But I will say for me the back tension style releasing didn’t work. For me it just introduced too much movement. With that said, instead, use a 1 1/2 ounce trigger because I am already used to very late triggers but I would not recommend this for everybody, especially in Hunting situations ( gloves, obstructions, nerves, etc)

Ive just recently restrung my bow and had a new peep rubber put on. So hopefully its just the fact I havent shot a lot this year. Im trying not to learn some bad habits. Im going to go pick up my bow later today and shoot some but see how that goes. Might be that I shot just a little too much and was getting tired. I just need to practice more thats for sure.

Got my bow back and they said they adjusted the drop away arrow rest just slightly when they paper tuned it, and re-served the peep. All is good now just my bad shooting! I shot about 10 shots and it was shooting consistently and in the bullseye when I wasnt torquing it...

Don't feel bad. I cant shoot worth a crap after being out so long. I do OK at 30 yrds but not so much any other distance LOL

I havent shot in so long I wear glasses now and it changes how I look through my peep site. I need to restring everything next year and start over with how I shoot.

Have you heard about the visualizer Peepsight it’s like a lens in your Peepsight like you would wear your glasses and it allows you to see your Peepsight very clearly, they have like six different powers
