You beat me to it and I think you hit the nail on the head. I feel like the power delivery is much smoother through all rpm's. It used to be very jerky as you revved it out, I assume that was due to the drastic VVT adjustments, but they are much less noticeable now, it has a smoother flowing power band which is awesome.

Throttle response seems very similar to 1.01B in my opinion which is a huge improvement over stock but I feel like there is still a lot more room for further improvement. This is still the biggest thing for me. I can see how it would not be as noticable of a problem for the AT guys since they don't really have to spend time feathering the throttle in neutral on a regular basis but in an MT it is incredibly annoying when the throttle doesn't react how you want/expect it to as you're trying to transition from clutch to throttle to get moving, or blip the throttle to rev match a down shift, etc.

This is still my biggest hope for the MT specific tune. Where the AT guys' smoothness and refinement is mostly coming down to their transmission shift maps, our MT smoothness and refinement I think is going to hinge more on throttle response. I think rev hang is also more apparent in a manual while you're shifting up through the gears and is something that has improved but I think still has room to get better.

As far as actual power delivery goes I think 1.02c is great, I would consider it pretty much done. The only odd thing I have come across at this point is a strange stutter/hesitation at about 3300-3400 rpm at 1/2-3/4 throttle in 3rd gear, it just kind of fell on it's face for a second. So far it only happened a couple times shortly after I flashed to this tune but seems to have stopped so we'll see if it comes back or not.

That stumble happened every time I have reflashed so far. I believe it is because the ECU is still re-learning. It has always gone away for me after the initial stumble problem was resolved.

    Nailed it.

Throttle linearity/shortest possible delay is the grail for us. It needs to be the major focus IMHO.
The hard part will be ensuring it remains consistent under all conditions. I've noticed that blipping the throttle while stopped/clutch in is much more responsive than doing it while driving (ie downshift rev match).

Edit: To add to the weirdness, sometimes I WILL get a fast response while downshifting. Other times I'll have to blip the gas twice to get the revs up where they should be (or just stab it hard the first time).

I have noticed this too. It did a similar thing around 2500RPM on other files. Will let him know once I have more miles on it if it still does it.

Anyone else having trouble getting replies back from @OVTune ? I've sent them two emails since last Thursday with the serial for my registration and haven t been able to get a response from them.
Edit: mine doesn't have the option to read ecu. So I'm assuming I still need the key.

I’m waiting too. I think there are a few of us waiting for the serial keys. Last night it sounded like he was hoping to get them back this morning from wherever he has to send them to get registered.

I have received your emails and will send the keys as soon as I have them. Sorry for the delays. It has been pretty crazy over here.

I'll also be out of office *limited availability* from the 24th to the 29th as I will be out of the country on business.

Are you asking Mat for the D?? Map "D" to be specific.

I have a little over 150 miles on 1.02C - Map A. Will be writing a review shortly but my experiences so far have been positive.

Well said. Honestly, I have been monitoring this thread and am not sure I see the same value in the MT tune as the AT tune. Note though, that I don't have the tune.

What I mean by that is that there has been a tremendous amount of work on the AT tunes and it seems the MT just sort of get parts of the AT tune copied over. To me, that means there ought to be a cost difference in the tune (Say $565 vs 765), since the input time in tuning the goofy AT is much of the work. I did see the OP mention that he was working on a few special MT items though, so maybe that will change.

Now, I have a few questions I am curious about to see if I am even interested in the tune. I feel that the power of my truck is adequate, and I don't have any real troubles with rev hang or throttle lag. I guess I have gotten used to and compensated for them. What i am very interested in is the report that people are finding more power and better fuel economy low in the revs in 6th on the highway. I really never go much over 3,000 RPMS in my daily driving (I have towed for miles in the 3,000 to 4,500 rpm range when needed). I get adequate acceleration and most importantly, I am getting 21 MPG tank average.

I'd be interested to hear if others also report significantly better power and economy in the 1,500 to 3,000 rpm range? I gather it isn't out yet, but the 87 octane MT tune is all I am interested in. I do not want the added expense ($0.60-0.70/gal here) and added PITA of finding premium everywhere.

The other thing I will be watching closely is the results for DEFCO adjustment. I've been engine braking downhill when pulling a trailer, and the sudden lurch and loss of engine braking at 1,500 RPM sucks. I have actually had the thing go in to a bucking routine where coasts down to 1,500 rpm...lurches and speeds up....goes back to engine braking....and then repeats the cycle continuously. ALL without ever touching the pedals. Inexcusable.

Remember cost is mostly driven by non recurring engineering hours. The Auto may have taken many more hours to develop, but the cost is spread across a much bigger number of units sold. Would be interested in what the ratio is for OVtune.

And I have multiple times - just more of a platform deficiency IMO. AI is cool and all and will change the world in the not so distant future but there are wrinkles even in this most basic form
