The only thing that helps when you’re bottomed out is a getting some outside help. Like I said, just wanting to know some limits of the technology.

I think the differences in the modes are how much wheel slip the system allows.

Thanks for taking the time to write you reply.

I've got crawl control and only used it twice to try it out since I prefer having control over the vehicle myself. That being said, supposedly using crawl control in combination with the multi-terrain select will not only change how much wheel slippage is allowed to occur, it will also change how the throttle is applied. I can see this being really good for supper soft sand or slick mud and descents down a steep, loose hill.

Ja, I’ve never needed it, just played around with it a little. It’s not a magic solution and shouldn’t be used with your brain switched off. I’ve found it useful teaching my wife to off road. It lets her concentrate on the line she should take and removes some of the fear on steep descents.

If we get enough snow here, I’ll see how it works in icy conditions.

Exactly, I think that is how I would be using it in the future! For the more technical climbs where you can concentrate on your line and not so much throttle control! Granted if I ever get stuck again you can damn well be sure I will be at least seeing if it works as an option. Lol.

Sure do! Dude rails on it too. 720+ hp at the wheels. Sounds mean! He definitely doesn't baby it... lots of pinstripes and other bumps and bruises.

With this truck, I find that whenever I get stuck it's because I've lost traction because I'm high centered or hung up on something. I think maxtracks or other traction boards would have been a good solution in your situation. Toss a few blocks of wood into your recovery kit - you can put the stock jack up on a block to help you raise the truck higher, and/or put blocks under the tires to help power through a situation.

Good thing you had that light bar and fog lights on so you could see!

What trails did you do? I did the Alpine loop and Ophir pass 3 months ago, plenty others I want to explore in the future.

    Gotta have good visibility!

I went up to clear lake and then US basin. Nothing too crazy but in a double cab long bed the switch backs to clear lake were annoying. I didn't plan on really doing offroading but then I got tired of pavement so just pulled off on random roads to see where they went.

Alpine loop is on my list for next summer. Think I could handle it in a stock double cab long bed? I've heard mixed things about whether or not I could make it without damage.

    Like, so many.
Nothing crazy, but had fun on some power line roads. Nice steep climbs, deep ruts, plenty of mud.

Alpine loop is totally doable in a stock double cab long bed. I did it this past July and had a blast. The only thing I had on the truck that wasn’t stock was different tires. Start early to beat the crowds.

This morning my buddy and I bounced around the Owens Valley, CA, looking for gold prospects. We met our friend Miner Max, an eclectic old-timer/prospector/treasure hunter. He has a unique Ford F250 set up to travel and live in the desert for weeks at a time. We enjoyed Max's company as he has many interesting stories and a neat outlook on life. Good times!

I was just talking to someone about Big Bend today. I want to load up my bike and head there. Spend a few days on the motorcycle and a few days in the truck.

IMG_4324.jpg Top of the world! Finally got my truck off road. This thing is awesome. Took about an hour to crawl up this mountain. I realized a few things 1. I love Atrac 2. Really love the short bed. Was back and forth on it until this trip. No way I could have gotten up here with a long bed. 3. Getting stuck on a sharp switchback incline in a manual with a 2000'+ drop behind you really increases the pucker factor. Def. need more practice with that one.
