Hey everyone, I have a 2016 Tacoma Limited with the factory foldable tonneau. I really like the tonneau, but I've found myself in need of being able to haul ladders and such, and really want to look at a contractor type rack for my bed. Has anyone run across one that will mount underneath the tonneau and still allow for its use? I know not everyone is a fan of the tonneau, but for what I do I really like it, but this would just add a lot of functionality. I was looking at a rack for the roof too, but I really don't want to mount any of the bars to the rail to keep from scratching it. Which brings up another question, there wouldn't happen to be mount points underneath the rubber strips on the top is there???

Sort of, but I wanted something taller, in other words so I could put some lumber on the rack and it extend over the cab some.

Those are awesome! The only problem is I measured my tonneau, the first flip is over 18 inches when you flip it up. With these racks you pretty much have to leave the cover closed unless you remove the rack right?

That is correct. You have to plan ahead to access the bed through the tailgate.

Check out the Dissent off road rack. I just put my order in for one. Ben the owner is open to ideas and very good to talk to about what you need.

Stay tuned for something really sweet from us.

We just designed a rack that will do the following:

    - allow you to open your tonneau cover
    - fit over Softoppers
    - carry ladders and other long item over the cab

It also features adjustable height and width. It will mount to the Tacoma, and every other truck on earth.

Prototype parts are already on the way. We’ll commit to 6 weeks, ready to ship. Very possibly less than that.

This thing is going to be killer for surf boards, SUP’s, ladders, tents, lumber, etc....

Is that aluminum automation style extruded bars? If so that is a fantastic way to build this rack. I have built a ton of equipment using these bars and they are sturdy as hell. I think you are really on to something using this material.

I have some of this material kicking around from past jobs and had considered building my own custom rack with some of this welded in where I needed adjustability in mounting different items. For the average Joe without the equipment or skills to fab their own I think your rack will become one of the premium racks on the market. I honestly think most people will lose their minds once they have seen this in action and see how versatile it is. Add an extra rail here or there as needed. “Semi-custom” racks can be made or created before or after the original sale. I hope the marketplace can see the potential as much as I do. I see this new rack “system” as the game changer for the industry. Great idea and use of materials.

The extruded aluminum is a bit pricey, but we'll try to keep it as affordable as possible.

Do you have an estimated weight limit for this? Will it be able to support a RTT?

:bananadance:- allow you to open your tonneau cover
    :bananadance:- fit over Softoppers

Is this set up modular? Im looking for this exact set up for my ladder but i only want it on one side and not have the rack cover the whole bed. Im just need two bars on one side thats shape of a L if that makes any sense. Also any idea of cost?
