Mostly miscellaneous electronic mods.... -2 spare Electrical fuse blocks hard wired to the battery with a key on relay. -Hard Wired Radar detector over rearview mirror. -2 Dual Whelen Avenger blue LED emergency lights, one on each side of the rearview mirror. -EP911 Blue LED Light Bar & Traffic Advisor, Rear Windows. -4 corner amber strobes in stock lights. -Hardwired RF Scanner with external speaker under center console. -Huskyliner front splash guards -Fireband 2 way radio in center console. -Herculiner painted on hitch and skid plate. -Switch to power one 12v socket when truck is off. -AntiDark LED strip under hood with switch. -Timbren Rubber Springs - Rear -MBRP Offroad Cat-Back with Resonator -Duratrac's -Provisor -Color matched hood bug shield
Hi all, I am coming up on 100K after 9 years of use. 2009 DCLB. I'm very happy with the truck and don't forsee purchasing new for another few years at least. Heck i just finally got this one to how i want. Finally got a new exhaust after stock started to rot off. Finally got the tires i want after i burned through a few cheap sets. Finally got 5100's installed after the old shocks were complete garbage. (i hate to replace something that still has life in it)

But i wanted to see what others thought. Do you change it out for a new truck when you can still get a resale out of the current one? or do you run it to the ground? do you trade or private sell your used truck?

Growing up i feel like my father would replace at around 100K because beyond that issues really started to show, but he was driving Ford Exploders for years so maybe that had something to do with it. So when should i think about moving on to the next one? for reference my last car, a '94 toyota corolla was will me until 2014 and 165K.

I'm keeping mine until the wheels fall off, but I'll probably be dead before that happens.

Assuming we can all get around 300,000 miles on these trucks you should have another 18 years of life left in the truck (unless a rusted frame isn't taken care of). I say keep it...

I typically would get something new every 2-3 years. But I still have my 04 dcsb TRD OR with 243k. So this 3G should be around for a very long time

Is this the same company that charges 28k for a D4 swap?

If you don't intend to keep the Tacoma for more than 6 years, why did you buy the Tacoma? Might as well buy anything else and save some money.

Well, since I bought my truck at 7 years old and 42K miles as long as the frame holds out. It replaced a truck I bought at 9 years old and 100K in 2000 and I kept that one 15 years and around 200K miles, so it's got big (well little, it was another Toyota, a 1991) shoes to fill.

I'm not hopeful it will do it, but that's the plan anyway.

It is. With the chip drivers are getting about 34mpg. I get that it's a lot of $, but you could do a ROI on the fuel savings and it would last forever as long as you don't wreck it or have it rust out

I have a bunch of old car magazines from the 50's and 60's. They would often have articles predicting the future. I remember some of them were things like:

It's possible that all cars may someday have A/C.

Disc brakes will never trickle down to average cars due to cost and complexity

It maybe be possible that some day an engine might be able to go 100k miles before an overhaul.

We've hit all these and then some.

A 100k miles these days is consider half-life.

Wow, 34? That would be nice. But the price of the swap is way too steep. I don't know if I'd get my money back in trucks lifetime
