Was just browsing the internets and found this thing. Pretty cool build, one of the first REAL full-size builds I've seen tbh usually they are all bros on 22" wheels or some dumb shit like that (not that I ever really look at full-size builds lol)

also I don't really have an opinion on american trucks, I think they are all equally as bad. Just thought Id share the random find

IMO, unless you need a dually, or a diesel, theres no reason to buy anything american. they depreciate faster than a prom dress, and usually have major issues that pop up after 100-200k miles, if not before then. they do make nice shells if you are ripping out the engine/trans/suspension and fitting something better though.

 

Make sense if you want a little better mileage, power, and room. Just like having a small truck has its place the domestics have theirs. Even if most of them are ruined because it's now cool to own a lifted truck

 

for sure, full size trucks have their place, I just cant stand the engineering behind them, because they are major pains in the ass to work and, and require 3x as much maintenance as the equivalent import. in the 40k that ive put on my truck, and not counting the frame replacement, its only needed one wheel bearing, and U-joints on the rear driveshaft. in the 30k that my father has on his suburban (both bought at about 100k) it has blown a headgasket, the 4wd system stopped working, it has major lifter rattle, the fuel gauge is inaccurate (shows 1/4 tank, when you are out of gas) and the passenger window stopped working. i understand that sometimes you get a lemon and sometimes you get trucks that run to obscene milage with no issues, but both of my rally cars have been domestics as well (Cavalier and a Focus) and those have also been very maintenance intensive compared to the rest of my class, I break something or have a failure every single event, wheres they might have a failure every 3rd or 4th event. they just dont hold up for some reason, and IMO its just poor engineering from the factory.

Edit: also, i have yet to find a full size with a v8 that beats my tacoma's average MPG, that wasn't a diesel. and im talking real world mileage, not the bullshit EPA test figures

 

"Rally cars" that require more maintenance than a daily driver? Sounds about right lol F150s are seeing 20+ mpg apparently, and that's good enough to me but I don't care about MPG otherwise I'd have a car. I'll take a Ford or a chevy over a Titan or a Ridge line any day.

 

I don't baby my vehicles, I use them for what they were intended for and far more... With that said, my lead foot gets me 14.6 mpg in my 17' lariat 3.5 eco. Sometimes if its a long long drive, I'm jump to 21, but besides that its 14-16 mpg all day. The factory $495 35 gallon tank comes in handy quite often. I still can't believe I can run 87 with TT's...

 

Power yes and size yes totally agree with both of those...but mpg my mom's gmc 1500 gets ~15 hwy and my buddies '16 ecoboost gets 18-20 if he cruises it sub 14 if he just drives

Edit: also my mom's has been pretty reliable in just a tick under 200k it's only needed a couple wheel bearings and knock sensors granted only think we've had major issues is a Chrysler...3rd trans in 90k miles

Those rally cars sound like a pain. Just get a Subaru, my stepdog's STI is at 80k with regular maintenance

 

Lol, Subarus break more than any other car at rallycross, they arent as reliable as the internet makes them out to be

 

Every time I've driven my moms 5.0 I've driven the shit out of it and never seen it under 15 mpg lol
