Subaru is starting to have customer retention issues because of recent product quality drops. Marketing to make you feel better about the company and more confident in your vehicle.

Maybe instead of a Yeti cooler they should include a free box of head gaskets?

Head gaskets would be nice to go with their revolving door of engine failures......

Do you remember if it was Mean Gene? Beardo Josh? Or one of the other tardos from the wholesale counter?

I work downstairs and regularly get the wrong parts. Hard to believe they could fucker up a drain plug/fill plug/gasket order.

They just need to design a larger oil pan, so you don't run out of oil over 5-6k miles........ The only downside would be the cost of 10 quarts of 0w-20......

Luckily the wife's subaru doesnt consume any oil..... But it did get a new CVT at 30ish k miles....

Our 2017 Forester 2.5 stick shift (it's the cheapest base model) consumes oil. It has about 9,400 miles currently on it. Subaru now puts a low oil level warning light on their cars due to this I assume.

It didn't start consuming oil until the first oil change, which was from the factory fill (viscosity unknown, assume it was a break-in oil or had some sort of additive) to 0W-20 at 4,000 miles. Don't know for sure if they used Subaru oil or bulk, she had it done at the dealer. Rate was about a quart every 2,000 miles.

I put in 5W-30 on the second change at 8,000. This is what I had for the Tacoma, the book recommends that weight for 2.0 turbos and says it's OK to use in non-turbos if this is all that is available (which technically was true, it's all I had). The consumption has gone down. The level change has been negligible in ~1,400 miles so I dunno what conclusion to draw. I might stick with 5W-30.
