Just for the sake of future searches, balancing beads do not address lateral imbalance, only a forward rolling imbalance.

The road force balance where you end up with weights at different points inside and outside of the rim is dealing mostly with lateral imbalance on a new tire, so that needs to be done once before installing the beads.

Especially since once the beads are in they trick the road force machine and it can never read final balance figures since the weight is moving around with centrifugal force.

So just mounting tires with balance beads will only work if your tires have perfect lateral balance, and that’s unlikely for larger heavy offroad tires of any brand.

    Some related Falken experience: has

The new to my family Taco has 33x10.5 ko2 on it, but I do have the Falkens on an ‘04 Sequoia in LT285/75/17 (34”). Went Falken for heavy snow use (ski rig) and light offroad with the final selling point being the MT class 20/32 tread depth at value pricing.

At 21K miles with one rotation, they still have more tread than most AT start with new. I paid $194/ea from DTD, still smooth and quiet and a very good winter tire for the intermountain west. With so much tread to start with and excellent wear, it’s like an extra 1/3 more tire.

I have ko2 in 37” on my 80 series Land Cruiser, and if given both tires I would run the ko2 because they are MT class in deep snow and a substantially more aggressive offroad tire (and nothing like the craptastic ko, which is a tire I hated with a passion), but at the price point the LT version Falkens are unreal.

I, too, hated the KBros and have campaigned against them on this and many other forums. A brand new set of KBro2s were put on my new truck just before I bought it or else I never would have given them a chance. I do have to admit that off-road traction is better on the 2s, but everything else is just as terrible as I remember. Wet traction is downright dangerous: I went through a drive-thru car wash then pulled out onto the road and was immediately stopped at a red light. With only the slight residual water left after the blow dry, I spun the tires like crazy with only 1/2 throttle when the light turned green. Everyone was staring at me and I was wide eyed and red faced from embarrassment. If I had disposable income, I would ditch the KBro2s for the Wildpeak AT3W in a heartbeat.

I checked my last night 265-70-17 p rated and they were at 11/32 with 7250 miles on them. I wish i would have measured them when I bought them. We need some one with a new set to measure them.

I am the same at 7250. I still think we need to get a noobie to measure. I doubt they 14/32 from the factory.

I think I remember measuring with a few hundred miles on and I didn't have 14.

I'm at 8,000 miles with mine and measured around 11/32 all around. I also measured 13/32 new, not the advertised 14/32

Why DTD is charging me 8$ environmental fee when they r not installing my tires!!!? Don't I have to pay that again to the installer?
I thought that was basicly a disposal fee for my old take offs!!!!!

I think they come with 12 and the website is an error.

By my calculations 7500 miles x 8 (32nd) would be right at 60,000 if the end of life is 4/32nds.

Environmental fee is not tire disposal cost. It helps fund state level tire recycling programs
