I have no social media account beyond forums, but my wife does.

One of my old Army buddies posted some old Ass pics of me and tagged her in the photo.

About 6mo later she gets an IM, or what ever FB calls them, from a girl observed with... "wow [last name] you look good!!! Good for you on doing what makes you happy and doing this amazing transition. You are more brave than anyone I know... blah blah blah".

My wife just started laughing her ass off, and let the poor girl think I am a tranny.

Recently, one of our buddies died and we all flew out to Chicago for his services. That girl saw me and asked the photo poster who I was "he looks familiar but I can't place him".

The photo poster says "oh, that's [last name]".

"What?!??? I thought [last name] got a sex change, you tagged a woman in all those pics"

He laughs and says "nooo that's his wife he'd make a hideous woman."

On edit. Wtf is google home?

"The Economist Intelligence Unit, a London-based research firm affiliated with the Economist magazine, named Chicago to its 2017 Safe Cities Index, issued Thursday — one of only three US cities to crack the top 20 — largely based on advances in digital security.

The annual ranking assesses 60 global cities using four factors: personal safety, health security, digital security and the safety of infrastructure.

Chicago, at 19th-safest, narrowly trailed the other top-20 US representatives, San Francisco at 15th and Los Angles at 18th. Tokyo, Singapore and Osaka topped the overall list, an order that has remained unchanged since 2015. Buenos Aires was the only city in the so-called developing world in the top half of the index.

Chicago fared best in digital security, jumping 12 places in the rankings and following just Tokyo and Singapore. The report gave props to an initiative in cybersecurity training through local colleges and the Department of Defense that Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced in January.
    "

Yes, because when it comes to keeping your spouse and children safe, it's good to know you're living in a bastion of cybersecurity training. That will help immensely when your daughter is walking home from school.

I thought the phrase was work smarter, not harder? In this case, she reversed it... why not just use a knife like everyone else?

Typical come up with a "solution" to a problem nobody has and use that to get attention.

    Her method:
    1. Get out parchment paper
    2. Spread PB on parchment paper
    3. Freeze it
    4. Cut it into squares
    5. <later> put it on your bread
    6. wait for it to thaw
    7. serve
Everybody else in the world's method:
    1. Spread PB on bread
    2. Serve

Who on earth puts their PB in the fridge?

If you're tearing your bread you need to buy real bread.

yeah, only explanation I can think of also. Even the watch-the-machine-grind-up-only-peanuts fancy-pants stuff has enough oils to keep it spreadable at room temperature.

The natural ones that come premade need to be mixed and if you don't mix it up well enough in the beginning then by the time you get to the bottom of the jar you're into the tough stuff that'll tear bread. Solution? When we buy a new jar we store it upside down in the pantry. It's usually a few days before we open it and it gives the oil a time to migrate the other direction. Needs a lot less stirring and no tough stuff at the end of the jar.

The reason is she likely doesn't have a real job so she "blogs", or "podcasts", or "pintrests" and needs to come up with Rube Goldberg methods of doing simple crap just to fill the empty space in her "art" (and life). She's probably the one who came up with eating salad out of mason jars.

Exactly - you're doing it "right". Not doing it that way is user-error. :) Of course, someone going to a ton of trouble instead of doing something the right way in the first place is not uncommon.

Oh yeah, I remember that craze. Saw it and thought it was stupid then. Even wide-mouth jars. Idiocy.

I use 5-cup Rubbermaid TakeAlong plastic containers. Dressing in a small tupperware midget container. Mix the two at lunchtime. Simple and easy.

You're right - there's so many people vying for attention, the little bit about applying a modicum of common sense gets lost.
