Anybody amputated their exhaust pipe?

If so, where did you cut it and what are the results?

 

Check local laws before you do, I know a few in Mass that did it and the inspection station wouldn't pass their vehicles

 

Sadly, that isn't surprising. I'm in Commifornia.

 

I know @CaliDevilDoc got his truck in CA and his exhaust is chopped above the axle. Maybe he can chime in.

I'm mostly concerned with exhaust gases getting pulled into the cab. Got a kiddo in the back seat...

 

Ahhh. Well you could do what Ivan (calidevildoc) did and do the chop, then have an angled piece welded on to shoot it out from the wheel well. Hopefully he has a pic he can put in here.

So it doesn't get stuffed up into the bed by a rock or log.

 

I chopped mine. You chop it after the bend over the axle on the down side

I love it. Sounds better and no more potential rocker panel damage.

I chopped mine in the same place as @JaCado. Cant find any pics right now. It only removes the tip and no emissions parts so it should be legal in every state, take my input at your own risk cause who knows what crazy laws cali has. I only cared about keeping my bedside safe from the tip smashing into it and causing damamge. No exhaust fumes and no sound change. I like the look of not seeing it also.

Nope, not a molecule of it. But I live In Los Angeles. The tail pipe in front of me puts more exhaust in my truck than chopping mine does. Lol

 

Chopped mine in the same spot. No issues and I didn’t notice a change in the sound.

Just eyeball it. You don’t have to cut it RIGHT after the bend, leave a little.

Mine is chopped right after the axle. No exhaust smells ever.

 

Here's where I ended up chopping mine. I wanted it as high as possible.
