I made them find the truck that I wanted. Was very particular about color and package. They found what I wanted at another dealership and got me exactly what I was looking for. So for me truecar worked out in my favor. Also buying at the end of the month rather than the beginning might net you a better price because they need to meet a quota.
Which ever way it works for you I hope you end up with the Tacoma that you want.

Brother, I've owned a first Gen and two second Gen Tacomas. In my opinion the 1 Gens are mechanically better, no doubt. Also, passenger car prices haven't increased as much as SUVS and trucks in the last 14 years, SUVS and trucks are where they make their money. Ever notice how Chevy and Ford offer these big incentives on their trucks around this time a year? What company can offer 10k plus off their trucks and still make a profit unless the markup is there. Just my two cents.

Discounts are all relative. You can purchase an F150 at 25% off of MSRP or Tundra at maybe half that at 12%. Yet, for the same actual price paid, trim, options, etc. are the comparable. Manufacturers set the price. It's just marketing. But you're right in that all of the mid to upper trim level trucks are money makers. For now. When gas was $4-5/gallon, they couldn't give them away, and hybrids/electric were flying off the shelves.

I had several issues with the Gen 1. Even with its very basic layout. And that was only at 125k miles. Solid truck for sure, though. We'll see how my '17 does.

You're on your own on that one Bud I wouldn't know what to tell you. Guess it all depends how good a family friend he is to determine whether or not you're getting the best deal. More of a family friend or more of a car salesman? That's up to you to decide.
Either way congratulations! Enjoy your new Tacoma. :mudding:

I bought the exact same white TRD off road 4x4 truck September 30th that also has the predator tube steps, added a black “TOYOTA” grill and a 2” lift kit, and window tinting and rubber bed mat, it has interior bed lighting as well.

I like it’s JBL sound system. Haven’t read or tried to figure out that entune system, yet. I am used to the last generation Taco, it didn’t have that sort of thing an is nothing like the setup in The 2015 GMC Denali I traded in for the Tacoma.

    I paid drive off $39,509.78

Just for an idea to kick around,
Try waiting until the end of the month when they need to make their monthly sales quotas?

    Good luck!

Also, ya might not want to wait much longer, they well sooner or later sell the truck. I wanted the exact truck an would not accept any deviation from what I asked for (you are the one letting go all the money) and in Texas, it’s part of the gulf states Toyota group and their were only 2 trucks left that was exact match within several states. They had to dealer trade from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to get me the white TRD with upgraded tech package.

Drive off doesn't help. What was the price before Tax, Title, and License (TTL)?

We all have different taxes and title fees.

2017 White TRD off road 4x4 with upgrade tech package (includes tow package, sunroof) mud flaps, predator side steps, interior bed lighting an mat set on the window sticker.
$42,109 window sticker before add ons.
    $1,415 in add ons:

    My sale price was $39,508.78

I owne a Previous generation (2006 TRD off road) the dealership serviced until 2015 until I tr@ded for a new GMC Denali. Last taco had 324k miles an developed an issue their service dept couldn’t figure out why, I was waiting for the present generation production but couldn’t wait without spending thousands so I went with my second choice a GMC Denali. The Toyota dealer wanted my business back. I am sure I got a good deal if there is such a thing buying vehicles. They told me it was under invoice and they had to travel hundreds of miles to obtain the truck for me. I had over 13k in trade equity, but the above was sell price with add on’s.

I just bought our TRD Sport 4X4 double cab, SB with tow package (automatic) for 32,500 before taxes. I got them to take the $999 charge of "options" off since to me it wasn't worth it. The $999 was for tint, floor mats, nitrogen and clearcoat... So they claimed :D They got rid of that charge and still threw in the floor mats.
