Duel battery placement on a 2nd gen Tacoma

I'm looking into placing auxiliary battery for my lights and accessories on my 2011 Tacoma. Anybody out there with advice on second battery placement and install instructions. Picture would be great if you have them. Thanks

 

Well if you have an manual trans 11 amd below it's a no brainer where to stick it, there's a giant void in the right side of the engine bay towards the firewall.

As for other configurations, I have seen folks turn the battery sideways and go with two 27F's in the stock location with a custom tray, some trimming of the fan shroud may be necessary.

 

Depends on your setup. Most (and probably the easiest/most accessible) go with the left "void" as @Key-Rei said however some have abs here. Two options for that. Relocate ABS (pita) or just go with stock placement. There's companies such as off-road engineering that make aftermarket trays/setups for this exact purpose and configuration.

Edit: install is really just about getting or making a tray after deciding where to put it and how you're going to run wiring/components.

But thats not including the cost of two yellow tops and the wiring set up you desire.

 

$134 for bare steel, not even painted?
Seems a bit steep to me.
Might have to see how hard it would be to cabbage one together

 

I went with the ATO one. The price is fair -- there's more to it than just a tray and top.

However, I have since changed the configuration. I'm still using the ATO tray, but I've cut and welded new tabs so i could fit a pair of Northstars. I then fabricated my own hold-down out of plexiglass.

Word of warning: the ATO setup is TIGHT. No running aftermarket headlight bulbs. And if you modify it like I did, it gets so tight that you'll need to move the stock fuse box an inch rearward.
Also, placing two batteries in the same spot exacerbates the common sheetmetal cracking problem. Check the sheetmetal below the headlight- it's probably cracked or tearing. Two batteries there just makes it that much worse. Someday I'm going to fix mine...someday...

 

A little curious why this is in the marketplace?

Anyways, another option is to wire one into the bed, Im thinking my passenger wheel well against the cab is a good spot...

This left plenty of room for a second battery but I think my air compressor is going there.
