Good evening just got back a few hours ago from a week on the North Shore hunting birds. No way to catch up here. I did catch this though

I really hope this is just a temporary set back and that she can keep the count up on her own. Until she does I hope things go as well as possible for her. That is a rough ride you are in my thoughts are with you both, hope the count goes up fast this time and stays that way.

Good, to some extent. The 3 year old is an accomplished hunter and outstanding. Only took 2 days for the new guy to catch on and up. They ran well together. Until the first bird dropped. Some issues with jealously over birds and they aren't best friends. But will work together. But the youngest one went after my friends dog when he picked up a bird not sure I can fix his social issues. He will climb in my lap and act like a baby then a switch flips and he is a nutcase that wants fight. Not sure. A week to recover and then back for another week and see what happens then. Pretty sure he needs professional help though. Or a new home but not ready to kick him out the door yet.

Power lines running to radio tower on the top of Honeymoon Mountain. Those woods go a long, long ways in every direction. Between the North Shore of Lake Superior and Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area. I carry 2 compasses and 2 GPS's.

A friend of mine that lives in Silver Bay came by for supper one night. So I grilled and smoked some

Sunday the first day was kind of special. The young dog learned quick and Nova picked up right where he left off last year. Shot 3 grouse. All different first time in one day I have ever done this. Gray phase, red phase and a spruce.

They all count toward the daily and possession limit. The red and gray phase are phases of the ruffed grouse. In the Southern Appalachians they were almost all red phase a gray was rare. But then again even hearing a grouse flush was rare there too. Seems like the further North you go the less common the red phase is, I don't usually shoot more than 2 or 3 red phase a year up here. Don't see a lot of spruce grouse normally they get more common North of the Canadian Border. But I'm pretty close to there.

Just got back from the preview showing of Only the Brave in Prescott Valley.
    Good movie.
The shot of fire in the preview that was the reason I called B.S. on the movie was NOT a shot of what was supposed to be Yarnell. It was supposed to be Cave Creek, and the fire was the Cave Creek Complex fire. Still, it didn't look like Cave Creek to me. Ive been there. Not that Cave Creek is a shithole, Parts of Cave Creek are really really nice. It just doesn't look like that from what I have seen. Its got more of a desert southwest cowboy vibe to it.
But the movie appears to have actually been shot around here. However, the part of the movie that was the Yarnell Hill Fire was not quit what they showed. The brush was so thick in that part of the country. Much denser than what they showed. Also, they didn't talk about how the reason that fire went like it did was because "THEY" decided that after that fire got started it should be used as a controlled burn, and "THEY" ignored weather predictions that called for high winds. So, that fire blew up on them and........... well............... we know what happened.
    But, it was very sobering.
I haven't been to a movie in a long long time. Part of my I hate people thing. But, I don't ever remember at the end of a movie complete silence and nobody moved. It was pretty intense.
Im sure the rest of the country won't have the same reaction that this theatre audience did, but everyone should like it.
    I recommend it.
Oh, also, I was on a type II crew when I was younger, so I noticed a few things........ but hey, I don't guess movies ever get EVERYTHING exactly perfect, right?
I did learn something though. I learned that when I was on that type II crew, I didn't know it was a type II crew. I never could figure out why when we were on fires, we were never on the line, we were always on mop up. We trained to cut fireline. We trained to fight fire. We had all the equipment. We just were never allowed on a fire line.
    Now I know.

    Hey,
All the parts are working mostly thank you for asking . The new post is well taking time to get used to I did not sit still before at work or home and well sitting still at work watching the same fence and walls is umm a bit BORING.. Current garage projects are new shower platform for camper and setting up a long range wireless network system for a buddy while waiting on the rest of the parts for a boomstick upgrade.

Any progress besides debating roxul on the barn ?
