I'm looking at purchasing my first Tacoma and have a few questions. The Tacoma I'm looking at is listed as a used 1 owner 2015 Tacoma SR5 TRD Off Road white crew cab. First, this one has the black Toyota logo in the grill and black lettering on the bottom front doors and tailgate. Did Toyota put black front logo and lettering on any of the Tacoma's or is this done buy the first owner? Second, Is there any thing specific I need to ask or look at before buying this Tacoma? Thanks!!!!!!

The previous owner blacked out the emblems. I would just make sure it has a clean history and do a thorough walk around including looking underneath and check the fluids. Maybe also check service records. How many miles are on the truck?

If it's possible he drove it on the beach I would look underneath real good for rust, even though it's a 2015, salt spray can do damage real quick. Those letters were blacked out buy the owner.

bought my 15 with 30k on the clock, spent all of its life in San Antonio, carfax came back clean ( only means nothing was reported, still could have had an accident) got it certified pre owned......(basically an extended warranty cause they dealer sure as hell didn't even swap the plugs out)

after all the research online and check with NHTSB it was a no brainier. Since you are in NC and they still use salt on the roads during the winter the frame and running gear are big areas of concern, body cancer can be fixed, it is real tough to fix a rusty frame.

    as others have said

It's in AR and from the pictures in looks brand new, underneath looks pristine with no rust. It has 53,400 miles.

wow, AR vehicle that is clean.......53 is more than what I have, but it is in with what would be considered normal for the south. mine was an exception.

    have you touched it yet?
when I got mine the tyres were shit.......but, I let that go because of what the truck was, long bed, double cab, sr5 pre runner, white, tinted windows, etched parts......I should have beat them up for the tyres.....

I would definitely put eyes on the truck in person before making a decision. A lot is things aren't noticeable in pictures.

Since it's in AR I have not seen it in person. I'm looking at having someone go by and take a look at it for me. It has a 2" leveling lift kit, 20" tires with Toyo M/T's look new, step bars.

That sounds like a good plan. Just be sure you make it clear what you want him to look for. And make sure he checks the frame by the catalytic converter. That is a problem area if there is any rust on the frame that would likely be the worst spot.

Make sure it's a true Off Road as many put stickers on them when they are not an Off Road

To verify this look for a button to the left of the steering wheel that says RR diff lock.

Nice looking truck though 31,000 is kind of high I think.

good looking rig, looks like a straight truck frame looks clean tyres look new but that might be an addition that the shop put on to boost the price,

then again it just might be a "street" mudder....still get someone to look it over, the engine bay is super clean....like showroom........caution flag
not even mine was that clean....

31k does seem a little high......i paid 28 for mine and that was a bit high...only did it because of the certified pre owned.....puts Toyota on the hook for any issues for the next 3-4 years

FWIW we haven't had real snow in years here so if it stayed here rust shouldn't be an issue.

They prob just clean and detailed it. A clean engine bay isn't a red flag in my book.
