    So the only regret I have about my truck is that it's not a TRD Off-Road. It crossed my mind to MAKE it one. If anyone here is thinking what I'm thinking or has already done it, please, do tell!

    You can always place a TRD sticker on it to make it look cool.:)

    But if you have money than replace shocks, get off-road tires, and a factory e-locker.

    Which "this" are we talking about??
    To convert springs and shocks isn't really hard if you are handy with the right tools.

    The rear end swap to an E-locker rear end could be easy if you get an entire rear end.
    If you decide to get an ARB locker and/or a gear swap....You should probably have it done unless you know what you are doing already.

    Get a Powertrax No-Slip. Very good locker. I have one in my truck. Works great. You can also upgrade your shocks with Bilstein 5100's. You can do this by yourself.

    Chances are...if he has to ask Is this a job that can be done alone? then he probably doesn't know.

    To add: An ARB should be done by a professional installer and preferably a person who has experience installing them.

    If you or they screw it up - that's $800 (cost of ARB approx), $$$ for gears/install, plus whatever it destroys in your differential (bearings, etc.) gone down the drain.

    Chances are I knew that...but he left the question pretty open ended....so I covered all the bases.

    And I do not agree with needing a professional installer. It's not THAT hard to set up differential. You need the right tools and the right knowledge- but that professional started out somewhere doing his/her first diff build at some point.

    If you take the time and do it right with the testing/fit checks-You'll be just fine.

    Doing gears are one thing and manageable for most DIY's.... but installing an ARB locker AND gears and trusting that you've done it properly and hoping you won't blow your $1000 investment?

    Uhhh....I wouldn't even trust myself doing that. That's WAY too much money to take an educated (but no experience) stab in the dark.

    I worked on helicopters for about 4 years. There's a mechanism on this helicopter that allows the tail to fold for conservation of space. There's another mechanism called a pin puller that locks the tail in place during flight. It's hydraulicly actuated and it uses gears to pull/push the pins in place. If the pin puller is not installed properly, it can shear the pins and fold the tail in flight, dropping a 30 million dollar helicopter. I assure you, I've never installed this thing wrong. Now, I've never installed an ARB locker but how difficult can it be for a guy with my background? If I have the proper tools and instruction, I can save hundreds on paying some other guy to do it. Anyone agree!?
