What adjustments have you made to try and allow more blur to the rotors? I am curious what your settings are. I bet we could come up with a good change that will allow for a crisp photo, with a good rotor blur, even if you are slightly unsteady in your hands.

I don't have your original file, but in this one I'm not seeing any quality issues. If you feel the sharpenss is down, then a monopod may help you to stabilize your camera for something like this.

Also make sure you are shooting in RAW so that you have more control over the editing. (That is if you are not already using RAW)

So I have a gear question, I'm ready to order a pelican case. Worth it to spend the extra for the new air cases? I'll have a 5dmii, 50mm 1.4, 100-400f4.5L, 24mm f1.4, and 16-35mm f4L. I'll also be purchasing a filter setup soon too. Oh and I have the battery grip also with a total of 5 batteries.

With all that gear I was planning on going something in the 1500 series but was looking for input from you guys on what you have or could recommend.

I know Pelican cases have a great name and reputation, but I have been flying my gear around for close to 2 years now in an SKB case and it has been great. And SKB are half the price of a Pelican.

I have many different sizes of Pelican cases, from small point and shoot camera size up to precision rifle size. Having said that, I now greatly prefer Storm/ Hardigg cases. Storm cases are owned by Pelican, and look very similar. They have a much more reliable reputation than Pelican in military use. I've read reports from unit armorers that said Pelicans broke by the hundreds overseas and never a single issue with Storm cases. In my own practical use, my Storm cases feel every bit as well constructed as the Pelican, they're lighter, and the clasps are far easier to use (and less likely to break, according to reviews). I'm not trying to trash Pelican...if the size case I want only comes in the Pelican line, I'll buy it no problem. But if there are Pelican and Storm cases very similar in size (which there usually are), I'll buy the Storm every time from now on.

I have an older style 1535 for taking on flights. Love it. Is it worth it to get the lighter newer one? Up to you if lighter is worth it.

Looking to get just a main case to hold all the current gear I have safe for travel to the desert or mountains or wherever. I want to get a nice backpack with a tripod holder for day excursions and shoots. For times when maybe ill only need two lenses and some other stuff in the backpack. (dji osmo, gopros, maybe laptop for exposure ramping control on timelapses, Bluetooth speaker, maybe a 6 pack. sounds like a big backpack now.. haha)

Gonna be heading out to Trona Pinnacles this weekend to meet up with some Milky Way Chasers for the last new moon of the Milky Season for 2017. Gonna try and shoot a day to night timelapse using GBTimelapse EOS and my Stage 0 Slider with MX2 Motion controller for slide and bulb ramping. Ive only done some trials and returned decent results so far with this program but ive yet to use it while adding dynamic movement. Ill be buying two ND8 filters to stack during the day to keep bulb exposure accurate and longer than .04". Anyone else going out to a dark spot to enjoy the last dark night to see some milky way dust?

    Sorry, I missed this.

I do shoot only in RAW, and post process all my pics with Lightroom. For camera settings I shoot 99.9% of my shots in AV Mode. So to blur the rotors I usually just bump up the f-stop to something much higher like f16/22, and then darken the exposure a stop or two (then later bring it back up in post processing). I'm sure there are better ways if doing it, but on the fly, while still staying in AV mode, that seems to be easiest. Mostly I like taking people and close subject shots, so I'm usually all the way zoomed in and at f4, and then just switch real quick to grab a helicopter shot.

Shoot in manual. It will make things easier once you learn.
