Didn't get the alert. I was up here on Friday when it was dumping snow. These were from Friday.





A good 12-16" of powder at the higher elevations. On Friday I never got down to the ground to see dirt.

Running Duratracs with 16k on them, and they are actually still at a higher street pressure (35psi ish). I've bashed into some deep stuff and had to back out of deep drifts going uphill without issue. Yesterday had trouble starting on a steep section.. but it was in the sun and fully polished into ice. But not expecting much on ice at that pressure.

 

Woke up to this yesterday morning.. it was blocked by snow clouds when i parked. I think it's Pikers Peak in WA.

The tire debate between k02s, duratracs and Cooper's is just like Ford/Dodge/Chevy imo. All good tires, just what you like.

I had duratracs used them very well... Likely 10-15k miles on dirt/trails no issues. Went to replace them for this trip and figured I'd try k02s just so i could say I did. They lasted a week and i took them back for another round of duratracs. I'd try the Cooper's but they are typically a lot more expensive.

And i was following a Cooper on the Morrison Trail a in July, we both pinch flatted the sidewall on our driver rear. So clearly they are similar but the tread life on the Cooper's seem to not be great.

 

Which CVT model is that?

 

1st one was in the desert near Joshua Tree and 2nd one was in San Gorgonio mountains.

 

Got something to share... nothing too spectacular, but nice for one person. Quick sleeping platform made from 2x8" pressure-treated boards utilizing the existing bed notches. I notched the ends of the boards, so the platform is flush with the shelf on the sides of the bed. Actual platform is 3/4" pressure treated plywood w/outdoor carpet from Lowes. I have a Tempurpedic inflatable backpacking mattress that will lay on top. It seems pretty solid and comes in/out quickly. I'm picking up my Softopper this weekend!

@crappie man - It is indeed a shorty. I remove one of my bike mounts from the front of the bed and just sleep diagonal. I've seen folks add a hinge situation where they can extend the platform w/the tailgate down, but we have lots of mosquitoes in NC, so I plan to keep it buttoned up.

I've slept in my short bed quite a few times, and diagonal does it. I'm 6ft

The worst part of it was when I had the Maxtrax mounted on the inside roof... The traction they get on your scalp in the middle of the night is unimaginable.

 

The amount of material that was hauled out to this ham shack makes it seem a lot closer to society than it really was.

Btw, solar powered ham shack...
