Thank you for the info, I was wondering who decides what the truck is worth. I would assume the at-fault party, in this case the other drive, but what happens when your insurance thinks the car is worth more than what the at fault insurance company wants to pay out for it, or vice versa? I guess they probably go back and forth until they settle on something.

Lost a friend in a DUI accident. I'm glad you are all good and still here to post on TW haha. Gotta keep your head on a swivel out there, no one can be trusted on the roads!

My mom was driving it. I've always been a "no one drives my truck" kind of guy, but she needed to pick up some furniture. Had she been in her own car, it would have been a lot worse. Trucks can be replaced, moms can't

Wish I had an answer on that one. I was driving a 12 year old Chevy S10, so I knew it wasn't even worth much as it was. That's where having an advocate on your side when dealing with the ins co is best.
Sorry for your loss and I hope your mom is ok. After a rollover like that, it can really rattle you even if you're not phsyically hurt. Hope she got a full physical, stuff like that can cause neck/spinal problems down the road. I got rear-ended and had pretty bad whiplash for a week.

And she's totaled. Got to go see her sitting a the junk yard. Finally got to see the impact side, heartbreaking

RIP my first truck! Doesn't look like they will let me take off any of my aftermarket accessories. Would definitely have spread the love to TW and given some killer deals on any of those parts.

On the bright side, the stance looks mean with some help of the smashed in bedside

That sucks. I'm glad your mom is OK. So what are your plans for your next vehicle? Another 2nd gen? Or moving to a 3rd gen? Or something else? Or still deciding?

FYI if you didn't tell your insurance company about the aftermarket parts, you may not get money for them, depending on the company. With State Farm, they'd cover it. I'd get everything I can off that truck while you can.

Then make sure they pay top dollar for them. It's a negotiation, when they offer you an amount ask how much is for the truck, how much aftermarket? Do you have receipts for the aftermarket stuff? If not, look the prices up. You don't want to accept $10-12k for a truck that has an additional $3k in aftermarket on it.

Due to major TW shaming I have held back from sharing that I also have a Jeep JK haha. I would share time in both vehicles but now that I have lost the truck I don't NEED another truck right away. I am working on figuring out what the next move will be. If anything it will likely be a 3rd gen but will depend on what is available near by. I am very picky when it comes to pulling the trigger on a new vehicle with color and specs and what not. If you've seen any good looking 3rd genes around do let me know!

Yeah I am working on getting some receipts together for the parts. The truck is sitting at a junk yard that will turn it around and auction it off after the settlement. I went and saw the truck and they had noted all the parts but missed the sound system/amps/subwoofers installed in the truck, probably because it is tucked and mounted behind the seats. Someone is gonna get some quality parts if they buy the salvage and don't know theres an entire sound system in there

I just got word that I was not "insured" for the aftermarket parts and that I could have been paying an additional amount to have been covered for the parts. Apparently I had replacement coverage though so they are paying out $19.9k for the truck. Considering its a 2008 prerunner with 95k miles I thought that was very reasonable. I thought it would be around 15 or below

Dang $19.9K sounds like a fair settlement-- most especially considering they're not valuing all the aftermarket mods.
But someone may get a hell of a salvage deal and be able to build a nice Taco!

I wouldn't even consider letting that thing go for -$4500 from your settlement amount. Buy it back, part it out or fix it and sell it for $$$

And sorry for your loss, and luckily nobody was hurt.
