When driving and I am cruising from 35-55mph there is a rhythmic vibration that happens. It does not increase in frequency with speed or acceleration. It is worse in the morning. It almost feels like im driving over a small washboard, but it goes on and off about 2 second on and 2 second off.

Ive been to dealer twice about this and they cant help me. They did the transmission update, which did nothing.

It is become very annoying and I cant find any help with this. Truck only has 6,000 miles on it.

I have exact same issue and has a thread started on it. To me it seems to be related to the activation of the Atkinson cycle, but have no real proof. I have a manual transmission, so I know it is not transmission related. There is also something in the manual about an injector cleaning mode. That may be the cyclic vibration?? Overall I have been very unimpressed with Toyota Tacoma, especially for the money.

No it is not related to the lift. It only occurs at certain rpms and low load. At highway speeds above 2k rpm it is fine. I did check torque on u bolts and greased the u joints, no change.

I have noticed this small vibe in 4th gear, I have a manual. Is yours in all gears? Hasn't vibrated enough to bother me, but I can feel it like you said, it comes on, then goes off, then comes on again...

Could also be a bad tire. i had a tire shake from 35-45 only that was only solved by replacing tires. sometimes you can have a tire belt go bad and it will go out of shape only at certain speeds.

Would prob be a much bigger vibration if a belt went bad. My tires are new on my truck so I don't think thats the issue. I almost want to say its diff related, as mine is whining a bit and a lot of people are having diff issues.

Mine exhibited the same symptoms. Upgrading to the ECGS bearing fixed the problem.

Mine is NOT lifted and I have the same issue. I noticed it shortly after purchase. The dealer "couldn't duplicate the issue" although I was in the truck when the did the test drive and could clearly feel it but the tech said he didn't feel it.

You need to get the front diff bearing replaced with the ECGS bushing as has been mentioned. My truck is totally stock and had the same issue. If the dealer did recognize it you could get the bearing replaced with another OEM bearing but chances are your problem would return. Don't listen to anyone else suggestion anything different or trying to confuse your issue with anything else. This is your problem, 100% guaranteed.

I have 5100's all the way around. I will say that I had an issue when getting the new tires. Long story short, the tire shop didnt bolt the tire in and it fell off while driving.

Are you thinking that if its in 4x4 and it doesnt do it, its a "needle bearing"? That would seem like a very easy test.

Same, both times I went, they couldnt duplicate the issue, and mine varies in intensity and when they drove it, it was minimal.

Where do I get this done and typically how expensive is it?

My 4x2 had that same vibration. There are many on this forum that have complained about it and every dealer says its"normal". It was just one of the many reasons I traded and moved on from a Taco.

I had similar issues - things that helped me fix this:
    u-bolts tightened/u-joints greased
look under the truck for a cable
that has some metal casing around it that may be loose and rattling (I had this and it addressed much of the vibes in my pedal)
exhaust damper - used one recommended on the forum and placed it just before the muffler and it added some smoothness
rear driver's side drum - was overtightened during a rotation by the dealer and warped. the symptoms of this one combined with forum feedback had me thinking I needed the ECGS bushing. I didn't.
running premium fuel reduced vibes as well
finally, OVTune was the final piece to the puzzle in softening and smoothing out the exhaust that was still causing some level of vibrations

Hopefully you don't need to do all of this, but I'd at least check the ones in bold regardless. I hated my truck b/c of the vibes - and no more vibes = I love my truck

Yes, while at a steady speed when you are experiencing the vibration shift into 4-hi. The problem will go away.
Check with locals around in the the regional sub-forum if you don't want to do it yourself.

    Search this forum for ECGS.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have been doing research on the needle bearing and have decided that this is a likely culprit. Ordered the bushing and seal driver kit and will do it myself. I asked local 4 wheel drive shop, but they wanted $300 labor plus I had to supply the bushing and related tools.

Thanks everyone! Yesterday while driving and feeling the vibration, I switched it into 4-hi and it instantly went away! So what needs to be done now? Needle Bearing? Front diff bearings? I need to know exactly what to ask the shop to do haha
