I'm as impatient as the rest of you. I feel like I've checked this thread more and more. Heck, I didn't even order anything but I'm ready to walk in tomorrow and buy one.

Did ya'll notice the MPG change on that sticker? 22hwy/18city. It was 23/19. Wonder if that means they've mapped the shifting patterns better?!

It was a double cab long bed. Not sure if that's the same config you are quoting or not.

I’m curious to know how they’re going to make TSS work with the manual transmission. If the system has to make a hard brake, how is it going to engage the clutch?

It will most likely beep to let you know and give you a warning on the dash.
It will also not have the steering assist with the lane departure.

I asked that very same question in one of these 2018 threads, really curious to see how they are going to make that work

I would assume that the clutch would stay engaged while the brakes are being applied. ECM would shut the engine down.

Wouldn't this be pretty unsafe? What if it just goes off for like, no reason at all.

Seems it'd be bad to not be able to get moving quickly again if needed.

Me too! I've been ready to go since early Sept. As the 17's with M/T and premium/tech disappeared around me, it seemed to make more sense to wait for the '18 since I want leather. But I'll be damned if it's not taking forever!

The styling of the Tacoma is such that it looks good in a lot of colors so I'm not going to be as particular about color - nothing bright though. Just got rid of a bright red sedan. Done with bright for a while. Black, silver, gray, cement....

Just waiting for one to show up within a few hundred miles

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I am reasonably sure the auto -braking won't "
just goes off for like, no reason at all." -- as you call it!!
Come on --at least give the engineers at Toyota some credit.
We have had the Subaru "eyesight" system for almost 3 years -- it don't do that! IT HAS saved my wife once from a crash once when a idiot turned off the road then suddenly back on --It clamped them down for her before she saw this stupid move. I am sure the Toyota system will "borrow a lot of technology from the Subarus as Toyota OWNS 16% of Subaru.
Do you really think Toyota would put out a system that is faulty!!??.. I think they have experience with this type of technology with their higher-end stuff --like LEXUS!!

Does anyone believe that Toyota will develop a new engine for this generation? Or would it just be held off until a full model refresh in maybe 5+ years.

I'm having hesitations about the 3.5 V6... The things I'm reading about the engine power delivery, gearing, and transmission is worrying me. I don't want to wait 5 years for a new engine though...

    Maybe I'll look for a first generation 3.4 V6.

I've been searching for a clean 14-15 TRD OR in my area in the color I want for that very reason.

There are some 3rd gen things I love but maybe a 4.0 is in my future. Time will tell.

The MT models don't have push button start either, so maybe these models won't have as many of the Nanny features. I'm OK with that.
