Don't worry. You'll only have damage if you bought mobtown tin foil protection.

Well, one year review of a steel skids.
    @Mobtown Offroad

They held pretty well, no issues wth the transmission and engine skids as I can see. The only problem I see is a thin walls for a t-case. I will be reinforcing that skid.

    8/10 lol

took a good look underneath today. Rear diff got a few more love taps, lower front control arm has a slight dent in the front and alot of paint missimg. Factory skids did a good job.

Drives just like it did before, although it is very squeaky now.

Need to take it for service shortly for an oil change and for a tsb on the transmission, so ill see if anything comes of it.

All and all, mostly stock made it just fine.

Thanks again everyone for a good weekend!

I heard the front dif is already raised into the engine bay. Is thst true? I haven't checked yet. Does the transfer case have one as well? The rear is visible and should be an easy re routing.

I'm guessing they didn't change much for the 3rd gens and since everyone is saying it was routed up for the 2nd I'm going to guess its the same.

You should have 4 or5 breathers in the engine bay near the battery coming up the frame near the down pipe.

    one is front diff
one is the ADD system on the front Diff
    one is for the Trans
    one for the t case
    one for t case actuator

If you have 4 the T case and Trans are sharing a breather.
if I remember right mine had 4, but I've heard people say they had 5.

Seeing as how they moved the breathers up, can't understand why the rear wasn't done as well. Toyota was hoping for some service work for their dealerships I guess.

    not sure.
but no manufacturers have them up high from what I know of.

I'm under the impression its something to do with the heat that would be around said areas.
No actual knowledge of why just a guess maybe.

Can confirm. Got a clip of @Taco-Can three-wheeling down the large dropoff (where most of us went around). The dropoff looks benign on camera until you realize it's higher than the truck. :)

Well just washed the truck so status update:

    - Rear bushwackers are all scratched up
    - Scratches/missing paint/dents in skid plate + lower control arms
    - Deep 1-2" long gouge in the metal on the drivers side door, like so deep it took up a chunk of the sheet metal with it.
    - Weird feeling in the gas pedal, almost like I can feel the movement of the tires through vibrations on the floor/through the pedals. Thought I was being crazy but thats definitely new

I have no idea how the gouge showed up in my door, I dont even recall hearing a ding on that side at any point lol.

Gonna change fluids this weekend, not sure what all these vibrations/rumbling are about. Definitely werent there before. Pretty much all my ball joints/control arms/bearings in my front end are stock, and the truck has over 200,000km on it so theres a chance the run finally caused something in that department to give in. The truck doesnt drive any different though so I dont really know what it could be.

Finally back to work since this damn strike with the colleges started today (Probably the only one saying this, but thank god for the strike). So now I can make some money for replacement parts lol

    SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK

God I remember that section of the run, there was a point where my leafs were SCREAMING for a solid 30-40 seconds and it was loud as hell. I guess they just needed warming up or something haha, they didnt squeak much at all after that first 30 min
