Debating lift kits voice your opinions

Im only looking at a solid 2.5-3in lift for now, the 6in is more than im willing to do right now due to i literally just got it and warrenty.
Ok with that being said, a local shop friends of mine, has suggested the truxx kit installed for 500 out the door-

Im not sure how i feel about spacers, but he said that kit gets alot of praise for great comfort and leveling out while a great lift.

edit: search and youll see tons of info about these. IMO best bang for the buck with either of these two kits. That said, i know next to nothing about lifts compared to alot of people on this site, but ive been around almost a year and read pretty much everything on here about lifts and whatnot. im getting the ULK in a month or so

 

For under 2Gs you can do SO much better than spacer lifts. You'd save a lot of money up front to go with the spacers= but down the line you'll be getting upgrades anyways.

 

for 2 g's in parts id be leaning towards icon extended coilovers, camburg 1.25 UCA's, extended stainless lines, a 2" AAL and some 5100's or 9.24" 5125's.

it will ride nice

 

I guess if your a serious off roader some lift is good, However it isn't anything that I'll be doing! Could be an age factor

 

X2. I hear those are great kits. I personally have 885's with 5100's all around and 2" AAL's.

2gs im also including the labor for the install, being that i was a mechanical and worked on cars for what i think is too long, i now am in a financial postion where i dont have to turn a rachet if i dont want to lol thank god.

Yes the ULK that you linked to has everything you need, unless your alignment is off, then you will need some new UCAs (upper control arms) I believe you can get some light racing ones for around $400

I'm putting that lift on my truck in two weeks, and based on what I have read on the forum I would recommend new upper control arms if your budget allows.

I ordered a set of Total Chaos UCA's from Down South Motorsports $650 shipped. It was the best deal I could find.

Also note that Toy Tec is a vendor on the forum, they will give you a discount for being a member of the forum. The discount will basically cover the shipping costs.

 

For 2K I would go with Adjustable c/o's: Icon, Camburg, SAW, etc and get 5100's and an AAL for the rear. That is what I did and I love it!

 

If I were you, I'd run from the truxx kit as it will only cause you heartache later on! My friend tried going that route because he didn't want to spend much money. As a result, he found himself spending more money fixing the issues he encountered by purchasing it in the first place. RUN!, RUN!, RUN!!!

why would he need new (different) upper control arms ???? I am debating a simliar lift

 

To get caster setting back to 2.5 or so so the thing doesn't drive like shit in wind or on uneven surfaces.
