Ok, so 886's wouldn't be bad with that. talk to Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road to get set up with front springs, I suggest 1/4" top plate for driver side lean, and HS's progressive AAL pack and retain the overload leaf and you'll have a level ride. Bring it to me for install, and Ill save you that cash.

As bad as I want to jump the gun and get it done, I've got to sit on my hands for the next couple of months to build up the cash. Also to grease the wife so she doesn't flip out haha. But I do appreciate it and when I pull the trigger on it I'll let you know (probably December/January)

I'm probably a year out from buying a suspension kit from Headstrong, most likely a Fox Level 2 setup. Do you have a shop there in Lago Vista, and roughly how much would you charge for an install, including AALs and UCAs?

My cousin just moved his shop from Canyon Lake to Boerne. Performance Off-Road, I think his new shop number will be active as of 10/17/17.

830-981-lift. He's been around for decades. Tell him what you want and I'm sure he can get you a quote.

Ive been to some of the "Off-road" shops around here and they all are over priced. I promise anyone who uses @Texoma to get their lift or anything installed you will not be disappointed. Chris did my 3 inch lift with new UCA's and thing rides amazing. Everything was torqued to spec and actually installed without the "well we had to tack on extra because we had an issues with the parts" crap. Chris is a stand up dude and I would trust him to do my 4x4 conversion when the time is right. Heck, I would even have him do work to my 67 C10 because he's the only one I would really trust my cars with.

No, he usually finds a shop that does good work and then makes them his "go to" shop. As a result of that, the alignment shop he usually goes with will make his stuff priority and when he takes it over there, they'll bump it to the front of the line, and get it back to him so it's ready for the customer without a lot of delay. Or if someone prefers their own shop they can go that route.

An individual will always be able to do something like that for cheaper, due to the fact that they don't have shop rent to pay, as well as employees etc. So, I don't doubt Texoma could probably do it cheaper. However, my cousin often throws in discounts for people who get their stuff through him, and have it installed. Other things to take into account: If someone sends the wrongs shocks or other parts, he takes care of all that .. get's the credit back without shipping charges and gets the new parts sent. Most of the time he can have parts in hand, in a day or two, that may take a couple of weeks for the buyer to order and receive. As for the "other" shops around, let me say that many of these guys have worked for him long enough to find out the basics of the business and then left thinking they can just open their own shop. In the end they don't know a lot of the ins and outs of things and often screw people over, not because they're just asshats.. but because they simply don't know enough to expect the unexpected. Many of "those shops" close down after a small run.. and leave people screwed. My cousin has had his own 4x4 shop since the early 90's. So, even I would be hesitant to use just any shop. Lucky for me he's my cousin so if I don't do it myself, I go to him. Any problems that may arise, he'll handle, and he usually knows what to expect. He's lifted just about, if not everything, out there. Back in the 90's he knew that if you were lifting an F250 with this lift, he needed to order a this different part, because the one that came with the kit was not as good as the other. Little things like that, where if the buyer just bought the kit, and just install the parts that came with it themselves, in end would have issues. So, having lifted so many vehicle over the years .. with so many different systems, does have it's advantages. But again, I'm not taking anything away from Tex, or his skill set. Just pointing out some facts about a shop that knows what they're doing, can also have some advantages too. Even if you do pay a little more. Just make sure you know what you're paying more for. He'll often get the same suspension parts for less than a buyer can, and then pass along the savings to offset the cost of install. So, ultimately you need to weigh out the price quote vs what it will cost you to get the parts and then either installing them yourself or what an individual will charge. And keep in mind that if Tex, or anyone else, yourself included realizes at install that someone sent the wrong shocks or whatever, that you'll now need all the turn around time for a return etc. They sent the wrong shocks for my truck when they lifted it, and he made a phone call and bam... new correct shocks were there and he sent the others back. I've done it both way through the years. I've ordered stuff through him and installed it myself. And I've had him do installs. Like everyone else, I like to save where I can so I know how it goes. Each side has it's pros and cons.

I'll throw in a pic of my truck that he just lifted for me a couple of months back, as well as a long travel taco he did a couple of years ago.

Thanks man. It's a 6 inch RC, with Ap expo 500lb packs and a 1' block in the rear. Billy 5100's all around. Eventually I'll probably lose the front spacers that came with it and use smaller ones and swap into some roughly 2" springs when I get a winch and replacement bumper. Tires are 315/70/17's .. with KMC robby gordon II's.

Yeah, that red taco is pretty sweet for sure. I thought about having him do mine the same, but the cost .. and I don't really need all that. I just wanted the extra clearance for camping and some wheeling here and there.. not rock crawling or desert racing.. so I restrained myself. lol. besides, I still have other 4x4s.

I'm sure your cousin does great work but I've been burned too many times by shops that swear they knew what they were doing and claimed they were the end all be all of the automotive world. I was to the point that I wouldnt let anyone do anything to my truck until I got word of mouth that @Texoma was the best person to work on Tacoma's, hands down. I figured I would give it a shot and I was not disappointed in quality, expertise and knowledge. Yes you are right that Chris doesnt have to pay rent for his shop and why should I go somewhere else to get work done when I know the best person to work on Toyota's is an hour from my house. I go off of word of mouth and when literally the entire Austin thread and most of Houston and here say Chris is the guy to go to I just might listen. As for having the wrong parts, if you talk with Chris before hand on what you want to do he will have the knowledge to know exactly what to order and where to order it from. If he thinks your money could be used to get a better lift he'll tell you but wont force you to go that route. He wants to be sure people are happy with what they buy for how they want to use their truck. Also, I would much rather give my money to Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road because her customer service is second to none and if I have a wrong part she'll have one just as fast to me as your cousin could get. That I can promise you. It's not a matter of doing the work yourself verus having a "professional" shop do it for you. It's about helping members on here that help the overall community because without our support they wouldnt be able to take off and start their own businesses and become vendors here too. There have been plenty of members here that started off selling their services and goods that later took off and became huge businesses and if I can help Chris get that far then I will because he's not just they guy that works on my truck, he's become a really good friend that I can call in a pinch.

Thanks a bunch. Been waiting to do it since I bought it new in 13. Was going to go the usual TW route and do a small suspension and smaller tires, but I decide to have fun with it instead. Most of my daily drivers have had 33's and I just wanted something bigger this time. Old age must have gotten the better of me. I do still need to do a CMC on it, as it does rub here and there. I could probably get rid of some of that with another alignment .. but more clearance is always a good thing.

Here is a pic or 2 for respective .. lol
