AUX Input Problem (JBL)

Has anyone experienced problems with their AUX input jack? Mine appears to be having challenges where the slightest bump breaks the connection and forces it over to CD. Was ok for a while if I was careful with my droid placement but now it's so sensitive that it's becoming unusable, which is really pissing me off.

It's not the cable. I've extensively tested with the truck parked, several cables, and flicking the jack lightly to demonstrate the root issue.

I know there can't be much too it, something is more than likely lose but I can't figure out how to get back there. Anyone know how to get back there so I can screw with the wiring and more than likely make it worse?

im having the same problem, is there a replacement part for the AUX that is similar to the stock one? I would like to keep it with the AUX cable; not in the glove box...if that makes sense

 

You could try to replace the aux jack... My guess is that the jack is worn out and not making a solid connection to the aux cable.

I still haven't figured out how to get into that portion of the console. I took out the radio and the entire center console without success :-/

 

I pulled out my radio and then reached in with my hand behind the jack and pushed the tab down. It should pop out of the dash, then disconnect the pin housing.

 

hmmm... think I tried that but couldn't fit my hand through there. Will give it another go ... thanks!

 

No problem glad I could help. Since replace the jack will require soldering you might be able to stick a fine needle or something in there to bend the leads up a little so it makes a better contact with the input cable instead of replacing it, but my guess is that would only be a temporary fix.

It was tricky when I removed mine, I had to use some forces while pushing the tab on top of the jack in at the same time. I don't believe that panel is too hard to remove though. I think it will require removing the center console and maybe a bolt or two by the driver's right knee.

Here are some OEM procedures, you don't have to remove the every panel in the procedure but it does show where the clips are for the panel you want to remove and a the steps to remove it.

 

Having the same issue with my 09 Tacoma. Aux input with the slightest touch goes to cd, and occasionally even makes the radio just turn off. It's super annoying. I'm gonna pull the dash off and see what I can do. Thanks for all the info. Maybe this can be my excuse to finally mod my radio.

 

My resolution came from OEM replacement. It was covered under my warranty. If yours is still current, I'd go that route - otherwise, you'll need to replace the unit yourself.

 

I pulled the aux jack out and bent the leads out to make a better contact. I used a small flathead screwdriver. Like one you would use on a pair of glasses. This fixed my problem. Seems like over time those two metal leads on either side bend inward and cause a slightly loose connection. We will see how this holds up in the long haul. But for now problem solved. Thanks for all the good info.

Been running into this problem myself, did a bit of research and it could be the result of two problems:

1) soldering connection broke, wore, bad solder

2) the black back piece that is right behind the aux cable keeps shifting everytime you plug in the cable

The connection is very sensitive. I know the cord is not the problem as I have changed it out multiple times.
When I hit a bump or shift gears while driving most of the time my radio switched to FM radio or turns off.
I then have to twist and play with my AUX cord for it to get a connection and play music.
Also, sometimes music only comes out of the passenger side speakers. Then after I tap the cord near the plugin, the music comes out of all speakers.
