From what it says on OF4 there's camping spots but none on map or with actual coordinates.

I'm thinking @tacoma16 and I can scout it one day.
I'm not sure how big the camp sections are.

But I'd really love to check out more of the Kawartha trails.

Same, I've never really driven through any of that area. It'd be completely new territory for me. Sounds like a next year thing.

Lots of trails in the Kawarthas area plenty of crown camp spots too

For what its worth even if we wanted to pay to camp there's plenty of places in the area that have cheap camping.

The highlighted one is the Minden hydroline trail.
trail the south is closed trail to the north we definitely CANNOT do. It is completely impassable without a snorkel and 35s. I know guys that have done it.

I'm always in the area in the summer. My brother in laws family owns a trailer park in the bobcaygen area and my girlfriend has a trailer in Fenelon. I go to minden all the time to a bakery and the kawartha dairy up there. Love that area.

Was just looking on google earth from the looks of it there are open areas we can camp at the end of the trail and around the halfway point in the hydroline trail.

I can do a scout run with Peter and my friend Dan who knows the trail even better next year and we can find out if we really can camp it.

Seriously though if everyone is willing to pay a bit I think we should check out Rays place (southwind) Has so many trails and its a camp ground. Besides its free to any OF4 members, which is why I still say the $50 a year is worth it

For that trail to the north of hydroline

    Anson South

    Trail Description
A very popular trail in the Minden area many people know as the Outhouse Trail due to the fact of an outhouse found near the trail start. At about the 8KM point from the start of the trail there is a large water crossing. It's about 100' long and water ranging in the 30" - 40" depths. There is a small bypass however it is very tight. Traversing this trail will take you north past many small lakes and rock formations. As you approach about half way through the trail a swampy area will be found where you have to be carefully in traversing past on the edge, once through this sections you will find yourself ending on hwy 118 where you can travel back home or to town for treats at Kawartha Dairy.

    Status Notes
As of the past few years riders have had trouble getting around the swamp about 3/4 of the way up the trail when travelling north. Most riders have been turning around there and back tracking out.

The large water hole has been reported to the MNR to see if the dam can be dismantled.

    Truck Requirements
Front Tow Points, Major Susp Lift 6";, Min 35 Tires, Rear Tow Points, Winch

So ya that 100ft water crossing is something we definitely can't do.

problem is a lot of those camp spots are on concession lake or other trails that I dont think are stock friendly. and they might get taken.

the camp spot on crystal lake is at the start so we can try that one at least its stock friendly and we can get to it easy.

There are plenty of good camping spots in minden in Kawarthas. Only issue is size, ive never seen a spot big enough for 9-12 vehicles. There are some nice ones but just not that big

If its the one on the water, it is always taken. Driven past 6-7 times and there’s always someone

When you guys say "stock friendly". What does that mean? Because I wouldn't say Ardbeg is stock friendly. Or are you just referring to tire size?

that was the one I was thinking lol.
You probably know the camping spots better.

I know the area as in my way around the kawarthas cause i'm always there in the summer but not the trails as much. Really want to explore them next year.

@Bocsy44 was bone stock aside from 31s if I remember right
I think @Ttaco15 was stock aside from 31s and 1" spacer in the front to level the truck.

I ran portions of it with Eugene on labour day long weekend with nothing but skids sliders and 31s

its definitely not easy stock but we got through the whole south trail this weekend.
Black lake loop likely isn't stock friendly but meh.

31's aren't stock though, especially if they're all-terrains. Plus it sounded like everyone got some damage from the last Ardbeg trip. I wouldn't particularly call that stock friendly. The dirt road to the beach in Ardbeg is "stock friendly".

I did the loop with 31's and no sliders last year. So I guess its stock friendly. lol

    But it took 5 hrs.

that's true but minimal damage. no actual break downs on the trails.

Let me rephrase. by stock friendly I mean passable with no mods other than 31s and minimal if any mechanical damage.
Trails like Concessions from all the latest trail reports are definitely not passable for stock vehicles. from all the reports given all the water we had this year its not passable without a snorkel.

Sounds good, im up there lots as the girlfriend has a place in bobcaygeon. Plus its closer than the others for us. Although ardbeg** has been my favourite place yet. Take two days for the south trail and it would’ve been ideal.

Sorry, ardbeg best yet. I like offroading and camping equal parts: so ardbeg is perfect. Just the drive there and back is killer

same for me, my girlfriends place is in Fenelon falls. I loved minden hydro line. great trail.
And its a bit closer to the GTA and has less cottage traffic.
I go up the 404 to get to fenelon every weekend in the summer. Takes me no more than hour and 45min to get there. once you know the routes its easy and quick. Only slow portions are the 404 getting out of the city and then slight slow down in beaverton near 12, I go across glenarm to 35. quick and easy.

Ardbeg is a royal pain in the ass in the summer. it took me 4.5hours for labour day.
Its traffic all the way up the 400 till muskoka.

Since you're always there maybe we can scout some next year. Just better to do with others in case you need a recovery
