Don't believe it. Going from Austin to Houston to see how much damage is there at my parents house do to Harvey. Speed limit is 75 and I'm going 55 at 5 am around Smithville. [Break in] No traffic at all. Driving right lane and swerved into the left shoulder to miss this doe and Tango Charily Out for the deer. I had less than 200 miles on a new truck.

OK question, I have full coverage.

Or pay in cash to fix it. Never get tickets and never got into wrecks and pay for the parts. Not really not that bad.

    What would you guys do.

    Thanks

Insurance all the way, that's what it's for. Good luck.

    decide after you get estimates.
check to see how this might affect your insurance.
then decide what works best for you.
toyota parts and body work isnt cheap.

Replace with a new metal bumper so the next deer wont believe how awesome that new bumper is and just hop right out of the way of truck with no damage at all.

Comprehensive insurance covers this. Should be no increase (beyond normal increases) in your premiums you pay.

I live in deer country so ive hit several myself. This should be covered under your comprehensive coverage and since its "an act of god" (i think thats how my ins. Co defines it) your rates shouldnt go up when you file a claim to have it fixed

Like others have said, tapping a deer is not considered an 'at-fault' accident. Use the insurance, that's why we pay those criminals.

When I hit one several years back, my insurance charged me a much lower premium due to it being an animal incident and my insurance didn't increase (Allstate).

Wow, this is my fear. Hit a big one in my jk Wrangler @70mph, fixed my bumper with a heat gun. Same year, best friend, totals his Frontier, hitting one @ 65mph. I'm in the pass. seat eating air bag. When I put my Pro grill on I thought, a deer will destroy the front of this truck, it's just plastic.

At least take the deer and cook it, better get your money’s worth out of that bumper

Just depends on the amount of damage. Your deductible is probably at least $500. If the damage is localized to the bumper and you ever wanted to think about aftermarket, now is the time. Even though it's no fault, it still goes on your policy. Get another no fault claim and you'll likely see your rates go up. If the damage is less than $1000, I'd pay it out of pocket.

I would take mine to the dealerships body shop and let my insurance take care of it, except for my $500 deductible. I'm the same way you are @robin303 no speeding tickets, no wrecks... I pay a tad under $50.00 a month for insurance every month... time to get a little of that money back so to speak.

I'd go the insurance route. Still might show up in carfax even if you paid cash. We have $0 deductible Comprehensive and I have used it twice with a prior truck with no rate increases. The price to repair damage can surprise you.

I hit one a few weeks ago at relatively low speed. No airbag and the deer got up and ran off after. Still cost $4.5k to fix. Insurance all the way.
