no removing hardware. the software reads your ecu file, you email it to him and he modifies it. then he emails it back to you. that's your flash file.[/QUOTE]

I would love to hear the entire bench flash process explained a little more thoroughly. I'd like to know the differences between that and the kit, and what the pros and cons would be. If anybody or @OVTune could explain a little more I'd definitely appreciate it. I've been following the original thread pretty much through its entirety so I'm familiar with a lot. I'm just trying to decide which option to go with. Thanks

The bench flash process is very simple.
Remove your ECU and box it up
    Mail it to us
Select the tune version you want
    We flash it
    We mail it back
    Reinstall ecu
    Done.

Is there any way I could set up an appointment and drive down to your shop? That way I wouldn't be without an ecu in my truck that's my daily driver?

First off let me say that the tune is the best mod you can do for your truck hands down! I was on the verge of trading my truck in before I stumbled on to the original tune thread. I've been running 1.02C A for about 500 miles. The shift points on 1.02C A are better than 1.02B, but IMO there is still work to be done on the shift points from 4-5 and 5-6. Right now the truck will still shift into 6th gear < 50 mph which is entirely too soon. I should say that I have been running the SSP (Shift Sense Pro) since inception and still run it most of the time with the new selectable V2 chip. This is only my opinion, but I think the EARLIEST the truck should shift into 5th is around 50 - 52 mph and into 6th around 70 mph. All in all I am VERY happy with the tune. Mat @OVTune has done an incredible job and we appreciate all of your hard work.

Still holding off for the supercharger, unless my funds fall through.

I'll be keeping an eye out in this thread.

You should look into the cost of tunning a new eco diesel or cummins, this one is priced well especially with free updates.
after the latest release my cruise control works flawlessly. I'm running 1.02c shiftA

Incorrect. See OVTune's post on bench flashing below. What you described is the tune kit where you purchase the dongle to read/write to the ecu yourself.

I sent out my ECU and did a "bench flash" for my 2009 Hummer H3 and it cost $235. Then, of course, next time I took it into the dealer for maintenance they had new software so they flashed it and I lost my tune.

Very nice. Will definitely be following for updates. I doubt we would see anything for at least another year from them.

Its not til next year. Didn't mean to put the thread off topic.

I don't want to clutter the thread.

@OVTune - I've had a hard downshift into third gear for as long as I've owned the truck. It is not a consistent thing, but it always comes back after resetting the learning mode on the truck. Even while running SSP, I still get the hard downshift. Will this fix it? Toyota says its normal. I've had the tranny fluid checked manually both by Toyota and my own private shop. I have the Rev 1 software update. I'm honestly waiting until I pay my property taxes on the Taco before I seriously consider trading it for a Silverado, which I don't really want, but I can't take the hard downshift anymore.

On a different note, anyone remotely close to Columbia, SC, have this in their truck? I'm willing to drive to Charlotte, Greenville, Augusta, Charleston if need be. Thanks TW!

Damn, yeah that sucks man. And this flash costs considerably more. Sounds like the kit may be the way to go. I'd be pretty bummed throwin that kind of $ down the drain.

In that scanrio I'm sure you could just send it back out to Matt & he would reflash for you.
Kit is the way to go. It's a little confusing when you first jump into doing it but after that it's cake. I can swap tunes in 5min now super easy.

    Removed the air dam lol
I have a question about the bench flash. If there's a future update for the tune would that still be included with the purchase? (not including the ship back and forth cost obviously)
