i have a 2008 Tacoma, I have been dealing with a brake issue for a few months now. I changed brakes all the way around on my Tacoma. When I went to bleed the brakes no flood comes out. So I changed the master cylinder three time and still the same but the brakes worked proper for about a month, then the problem came back. Now when driving you can hear the brake pedal making a poping sound and feel the truck gain speed. The front calipers get work but from what I have read don’t seem to be sticking. Cause you can push the piston with ease when changing the front brake.I am at a complete lose on this, any help would be very helpful.

Take it to a shop and have them bleed the abs system.

Agree. A shop is the correct answer especially since you have changed the master cylinder 3 times. Were they all defective or what?

My guess is he thought they were bad because he couldn't get a good pedal

Usually there’s a special procedure to remove the air from the abs module not familiar with Toyota’s abs but i worked for gm dealerships and it was needed to run the abs at a bleed mode to completely get all the air out or it would feel spongy and like shit

Sorry, I work third shift. And as to my knowledge they were defective. As for getting a good pedal yes I have a good pedal, it was spongy this morning when driving home. The main problem is that I can hear a pop from the brake pedal, this happens at different times after I have pressed the brake pedal. When that pop sound happens I can feel the truck gain momentum. Plus after stopping I feel the front rims and they are hot but the back rims are cold. I am planning on getting the ABS system bleed as soon as possible. I just like to know if the ABS would cause the front brakes to stick. I was also wondering if the brake booster might be causing the issue. Thanks for the help with this situation.

I replaced the entire brake system and still had brake problems. I was about to give up on it and then I changed out the master cylinder the third time just for the hell of it and now I have perfect brakes.

Must be a really bad batch of Master cylinders out there or something.

That was what I was thinking but nothing with this problem makes any sense what so ever.

Yes, I am the same way and it is so frustrating that I can’t figure it out and have to take it to someone.

Its quite possible to get bad master cylinders, coupled with air in the abs that would definitely cause problems.

That is what I am thinking air in the ABS. Everything else seems to be functioning fine. I know that sometimes the poping sound will happens after I have parked the truck. I pop the hood and listened and it came from the area of the brake booster. So that was why I was questioning if the booster went bad would it make the brakes stick and release, but seems to me that air would cause that also. I am just trying to get some ideals about this.

I haven’t changed that out. But also when I go to bleed the brakes I get no flood out of the back brakes. It will not build up pressure like it is supposed to and it does only a half ass job of building up pressure on the front brakes. Any ideas about that?

you mean fluid? One possiblility I think there is a rod that the brake pedal pushes to the master cylinder maybe thats bent? Other than that it sounds like brake master cylinder since its not building pressure and no fluid is coming out of the bleeders.
