    Nissan Frontier pitfalls;
No "long bed" with Double Cab! (what's up with that??)
No leather interior with anything but Double Cab!
No Sunroof with anything but Double Cab!
More configurations are available with Tacoma..
& there's really not much price difference between Tacoma & Frontier when configured similarly (if that's even possible).

    Pretty much stock
Yes you can get a long bed DC
    No leather on any tacoma
    No sunroof on any tacoma

And the frontier is alot cheaper than the tacoma, so is resale value...good for us owners of tacomas, bad for frontier owners.

But this is an old ass thread, whoooo cares we all own tacomas :)

My previous truck was an 08 frontier crew cab and i'll say the gas milage is HORRIBLE.

I have to say that yes while there are a couple of positives for the Frontier, ie more horses, moonroof, no ticking. I think they are a fugly looking truck, a very cramped backseat and small doors, an ugly dash and uncomfortable interior. Yes, I am not 100% happy about the recalls/issues right now but, I love my truck. I have had it a year now and I look forward to driving it each and every day. That's how much I love it.

But, to each his own. Just my $.02

id rather have my added hp off of forced induction that way i cant drive normal and get normal MPG the frontier is heavier i belive so the extra like 20hp or so is irrelivant and its natually aspirated power so that = bad gas milage plus the taco is a better truck on other levels other than the motor

I owned a nissan XE pickup truck for 14 years. No problems it was reliable as hell for 96k miles and didn't do shit to it. One set of brakes and some oil changes and I wasn't religious with those changes to say the least. I sold it to a buddy who wanted an around town pickup truck to tote stuff for 2k.

I just bought a 2010 mag grey prerunner SR5 access cab in march for 22,792k. Why a toyota and not a nissan after such a good experience? Well, because I looked at the new Frontiers and just like my previous Nissan they felt and looked cheap inside. Also contrary to what I see on these forums all the the time they weren't cheaper configured the way I wanted it, and I wasn't willing to make compromises like lower clearance no backup camera etc. I was tired of being low I wanted a higher man truck damnit!

The Titan (my friend owns one) and the Frontier's exterior and interior both looked tacky and poorly laid out without attention to detail (more so the intererior). From a purely subjective point they felt cheesy and plastic in comparison to the Tacoma inside. The black plastic square on the tailgate top center really looks bad to me too. I realize style isn't everything but it was important to me. I also took a look at f150s as well but their mpg was a joke and to get anything configured the way I liked was really expensive.

I have no doubt the Frontier is a reliable solid truck if it's anything like my last truck. It's just at this point I wanted something in a truck I was proud to drive as well as being reliable.

for those saying the frontiers are cheaper. I just configured it on nissans site and they aren't unless you miss out on a lot of features the tacoma prerunner comes with stock SR5. I really don't see why you'd buy a Frontier over a Tacoma Prerunner given the option.

We own A 2005 Frontier crew cab Nismo and we just bought a 2010 Tacoma trd sport
Access cab. We enjoy both pickups. There is give and take on both. The Nismo burns
super (hence the extra power) and drives a bit heavy. The Taco sport is just what it says. Feals a bit more sporty. (The catback helped). Bottom line, I'll buy an American
P.U. when the japanese build it. Life is short! Enjoy the ride.

My two neighbors both own Frontiers and whenever they see my Tacoma, they tell me that they wanted a Tacoma but "couldn't afford" one. True that Frontiers cost less, but I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. With that being said, if you like the ride and feel of a frontier, go for it! Personally, my Tacoma rides much smoother than the Frontier.

No, its not. I test drove one of these trucks when buying my taco, A. its got less pep then the tacoma, I would rather pass on the highway with a tacoma then the frontier B. Have you ever been in a truck with the TRD S/C throttle response torque ect, its not even close...

From a roll, the Frontier's extra horsepower is noticeable. From a stop, the Taco has a little more go. It's definitely nothing like a blower, maybe a CAI and Exhaust. The Fronty's consistently dyno higher than they are rated (factoring in losses etc)

the nissan and the tacoma pricing today is very close. the only real difference is incentives.

you should tell them to take another math class... as they're about the same price. they might've had more incentives at the time - that would be the only material difference.

I was on the fence between the two as well- I liked the Frontier motor but disliked the styling and ride quality. Then again, I've owned 7 Toyotas and 1 Nissan (back when they were Datsuns). I decided the Taco's motor is just fine for the way I drive and with a little intake and exhaust mods, it'll run with the Frontier.

the two motors are so close, it's almost funny that would be a deciding factor either way.

i'll go with the general longevity of the toyota motors over the nissan's (well, overall mecanical - not just motor) anyday. of course, that really only comes into play if you're planning on keeping the car for 100K+....

Taco already schools the Nissan in 0-60.

Frontier is heavier, it's engine's power increase was necessary so it could hang with the Taco. Plus, IIRC, it *requires* premium fuel, rather than just making use of it like the 1GR-FE.

The tacoma is the only pick up with an excellent rating in overall crash test from the NHTSA. Frontier is acceptable, which is behind good. Excellent is the highest mark.

The tacoma is at the top of the fuel economy marks for the smaller pickups.

The tacoma offers great off road gadgets, if you chose the off road package of course.

People point out to things like seats and ride quality, which is all great, but as a truck, the tacoma is unmatched in it's class. Even the bigger pickups, like the F series have shitty crash results.

After all those recalls and news media exaggerating, you guys are forgetting that it is still toyota. Toyota is still the best at what they do, and i don't care how many american/canadian made cars are recalled because of an american patented gas pedal, they are still the best.
Honda is better for smaller cars, but they don't make real trucks.

I love my 09 Tacoma. I wouldn't want to drive anything else. I love the fact that if i crash head on into ranger that i will live and he will die horribly (MUAHAHAHAHHA). jk

Nissan should concentrate on their GT-R's tranny.
