The reason for being rich after open to closed throttle is because you are suddenly changing the amount of air in the engine (reducing it) and because there is suddenly less air there is effectively more fuel for the lesser amount of air causing a rich condition until the excess fuel is burned and a stable AFR is achieved. This is especially common for turbocharged vehicles when they have to add more fuel (over 14.7:1) and let off the throttle while in boost.

The tag says 58/58? I got what Luis recommended. But not exactly positive because there’s a casting on the exhaust part that says 68

Luis said with my fuel mods this turbo could make around 700 for a 3rz most but without building my motor or trans swap I’ll keep it around 300ish for now

    Could a MAP-ECU3 control the solenoid on a Holset HE351 ?

Edit: this is “electronic boost control” (EBC) ?

The MAP-ECU3 does support EBC. Whether or not it will work with the Holset will depend on the signal that the Holset is looking for. The MAP-ECU3 provides a switched switched output that acts as a switched ground, so one side of the Holset would be power and the other would connect to the MAP-ECU3 for the ground. In the software, you configure duty cycle, gain, sensitivity, and target boost. The MAP-ECU3 also supports launch control and flat foot shifting.

EBC is typically a solenoid that bleeds pressure so the wastegate doesn't open as soon allowing you to build more boost. VGT is variable geometry turbos change the turbine wheel allowing you to control how fast the turbo spools. Theoretically, it should be possible to control boost to an extent with the VGT but an actual boost controller and wastegate would probably work better.

The Holset he's asking about is a turbo off a Cummins diesel. Maybe he's trying to dual charge???

Sometimes i hate being the cute one in the group... It seems like everyone in here has a plethora (sometimes it seems like an unlimited amount) of boost knowlege. Good group of guys we got here, glad to be a part
