Have been experiencing a strange popping sound and what felt like rear brakes holding when I let off brakes, only in a turning situation or backing up. When it popped, the truck would def lunge like it was in a bind. I pulled rear drums, found leaking wheel cylinder on left rear, replaced said cylinder, and all brake hardware. Took about 2-3 days and the same noise and feel came back. Question is, would a leaking axle seal cause the ABS sensor to act up and cause the brakes to hold? Or am I just looking at a bad bearing that just binds up when under a load in a turn???
To add, I don't have any abs lights or anything showing any indication of an issue on dash.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

From your first post. Is your axle seal actually leaking?

Does the lunging/popping occasionally happen when you are coming to a stop?

How do you know it is not just Louisiana's awesome roads screwing with you.

No clue about ABS sensor's function.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I'm leaning towards the bearing. I don't think a leaking axle seal would mess with the sensor like that. Have you drained the rear and looked for shavings?

Axle seal isnt leaking external, I pulled the abs/speed sensor and was covered in gear oil, so confident inner seal is leaking. It happens when I am already at a stop, and either on incline, or have wheel turned and suspension is loaded, and go to take off. It feels like the brakes are staying engaged. I replaced everything, including wheel cylinder 2 weeks ago.

I changed the fluid about 6 months ago. Going to try again this weekend and see....But for safety sake, gonna just pull axle and do a bearing/seal swap. Truck has 191k and this is first issue i've had w rear end.

That's probably a good idea. It's possible you won't find the problem unless you take it apart anyways.
