I highly doubt they are going to put a defective system in also, my simple question revolves around what it does in a panic stop with the clutch.

Right, I was wondering how they were going to work around stalling but it sounds as if they don't care if it does.

I hope that Toyota changed the gearing or power delivery via tuning... The mpg being different on the new brochure points to something being changed... Unless TSS weighs so much that you lose 1 mpg lol..

I'll give the 18 a full, honest look around. I wish there was a way to borrow one of these trucks and live for a day with it. Turo is around 160$ in my area for a 4x4 TRD OR. I may go for it. Just wish I had a buddy who already owned one! Haha

If the Ike Gauntlet test is legit...the 3rd gen did great :burnrubber:, surprised it performed better than the 2nd gen. The 3rd had a 3.92 rear end vs 2nd with 3.72.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Our Subie system has shut itself off a couple of times --once in a super heavy downpour of rain and the other time when the fog was so thick outside --it was also affecting the inside of the windshield as well. I look at these type of situations as the cars "safety-assist" (that is what it is intended to be) telling me -- "hey driver -- the conditions are soo bad --I am giving you "NO info" rather than "bogus-info"
Just remember these systems are not intended to replace you as the driver from paying attention --THEY ARE A "DRIVER ASSIST".
I bet if you could ask the Tesla paid "test driver" who was watching a movie while driving said car he would surely agree! If you don't recall that incident --http://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/mobility/2017/06/19/tesla-autopilot/103018228/

That's awesome. I hope to buy a 2018 model soon and would prefer that it doesn't shit erratically. That would make a mess on my driveway. :poking: ;)

I was just reading the 2018 Corolla owners manual and the only time it discusses a difference between cvt and manual is with the dynamic radar cruise. It will automatically shut off if the rpm is too low or too high with the manual. It does not mention any differences with collision and pedestrian avoidance between the cvt or manual.

Link to the manual below, should give you an idea of what to expect. Starts at page 207:

Why not a test drive at a dealer? They have overnight test drivers lol and it's free.

$170 is crazy expensive for a Tacoma... I rented an E92 M3 for half of that...

Yeah I'll definitely have to look into this. The big question for me is the reality of daily driving it. I have a heavy foot, but on CA highways, traffic can easily be going 80-85. I need to see if the Tacoma can do that comfortably or if it's really deep on the throttle to get there.

well driving our 2016 v6 sport 4x4 with the transmission tsb done, i can tell you at 75+ with any decent head/side wind it does kick down to 5th/4th alot and hills with about 3-5% grade make it shift when on cruise control.

need to learn more about this stuff
The Tacoma is my daily driver. I live in ca. Not a problem. I’ve driven mine to Utah and back. No problem.
But I’m also not a super picky driver like some of the fanatics on here. But I’m realiry of it all, I don’t think the Tacoma would sell so well if it was such a crappy truck. This forum is just a place to go to complain when something happens with the truck you don’t like. So if you take the 100,000s of truck in the us, when there is an issue with one, that guy comes here to complain.
