New England B.S. Thread

As someone mending a broken tibia right now, that was rough for me to watch! I was freaking out and wishing that I wasn't a Celtics fan because I really didn't want to see that. Seriously tweeked me out.

 

Shit like that makes me sick to my stomach.

 

Morning y'all! Boss just sent out an email basically saying "It's crunch time, prepare to work weekends and long hours"

Fuck.

 

If my boss said that about weekends I'd say "Prepare to find yourself a new PM!" I can't stand the American workforce mentality. What good is working long hours and weekends if you can't enjoy life! I might as well live on welfare. Fuck that.

Yeah I totally hear that. Now I'm fine working longer hours if there's a good reason, like crunch mode. The real problem is that we have all been working longer hours for about a month now because we have been in crunch mode for a while. So sending this email now is just like a slap in the face.

Work is my priority 5/7 days. Those other two are for my truck and maybe my girlfriend.

 

Being European, having been born there and going back on vacation frequently, I can tell the huge difference between American workforce mentality.

People here bust their chops, and for what??!! In Europe most places consider a full work week to be 35 hours or so. From my previous job, having worked for a German based company, if you "hit" your hours and it wasn't even the end of the year, you weren't allowed back in the building until the begging of the following year. No OT, none of that shit.

Peeps work too hard here. I'm guilty of that to be honest... got sucked into it. Gotta dig myself out.

 

Very true! After seeing the other side of the coin it's hard to look at a job the same way again. I'm lucky that I love what I do, but my industry is very big on the "Work is the only reason to live" idea. It's BS.

I work to support a lifestyle. That lifestyle includes my truck and my girlfriend. If I don't have time for that lifestyle then why am I working?

 

Amen to that! And that becomes even more true when you have little ones. At least it does to me.

 

That mentality is very big in my trade, especially since we don't make a good amount unless you've been in the trade for like 7 years or work a decent amount of OT

 

I wish I could get OT... Salary FTL!

I do like my paycheck though!

 

Oh yea man, OT is nice, but before they took Saturdays away they would try to make you frel guilty if you didn't work on Saturdays or at least every other one. The extra 5 hours OT was nice, but then you would blow Sunday relaxing

 

Drop in FTW! They'll match the HIDs nicely I think.

How do you like them? Amazon had them marked down pretty good.

 

I have those as well for my fogs, and love them!

 

Only complaint is I need retrofit headlights lol

 

Kind of at an cross of paths for my truck right now. I'm acquiring a RTT soon and as some of you know I have a Leer 180 with the raised roof section.
Not sure what to do as far as mounting...
Two options:
1) Sell Cap and buy level height cap and get a roof rack for that cap... (takes a lot more time and probably going to cost a lot more)
2) Buy roof rack for Cab of truck and put tent over the cab
3) Putting the RTT on the raised cap would put the tent at over 7 feet tall and it will look horrible as well as be a bitch to fold up/down with the added 3-4 inches from the cap. I'm only 5ft5....

Thoughts?

I hear that.. once upon a time I worked for a construction company that did projects all over the world. Spent a lot of time in Spain and Gibraltar. The first day I showed up I had no idea their routine, so I showed up on the site about when I was used to starting construction work here in the States, about 6am. The first guy showed up at 7:30 am, and he said he was early! 8am start. Then at 9 they take a half hour for breakfast. Then they work until about 1pm where they take a full hour for lunch! After that at least half the days they return from lunch and the super determines that it's too hot, so lets pick it up until tomorrow. Talk about brutal getting a 4 story stick framed building erected. I was there for months. Such a different working mentality.

 

I wouldn't just throw a rack on the current cap. They aren't really rated to support that kind of weight unless it was ordered that way. Usually, they top out at something like 200 lbs.

 

What RTT are you getting?
