So I just purchased my 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport about 2 and half weeks ago. I went and ordered new Nitto Terra Grapplers for it from Discount Tire. Took it this Monday to have them mounted when the tires came in. I live in a small town that's only had Discount Tire for about 2 years. I've heard stories from people I know in town how they've damaged their wheels when mounting new tires. So when I took my truck there to get them put on, I specifically had the gentlemen walk around and inspect my wheels and show him there is no damage. Truck had 448 miles on it. Sure enough deep chips and scratches on all the wheels. I talked to the guy who sold them to me and told me he was the assistant manager, and he looked and said yep they're damaged. He said they would either order me some other wheels if I wanted or get new OE wheels. I liked the wheels that are on it so I said I want the originals. He said he was going to go get a notepad to get my VIN so they could order them. He comes back out with another gentlemen who then proceeds to look at them and then basically tells me the gentlemen who told me they would replace them doesn't have that authority and neither does he because he's just "babysitting" that store. He then goes on to tell me that the damages is acceptable and he doesn't see why I want them replaced. What a freaking joke.

That sucks. I have had nothing but great service from discount tire. Hopefully they can get it sorted out.

Thanks me too! I've posted on their facebook page and received what I'm sure is their auto response to complaints to email. I did email them, so we'll see what happens. So very disappointing that it has to come to this, when they clearly know they damaged my wheels.

Ordering new OE wheels is a little extreme for some scratches/chips on the wheel. I agree an asst. man. probably shouldn't be able to throw money away like that. They should be able to get a wheel repair guy to fix them up no prob. at minimal cost to them.

Often a new store will have an inexperienced workforce, especially in a small town. All the experienced people work at the established places. I never go to the new place for this reason.

Same, never an issue after multiple sets of tires on multiple vehicles. Sucks man. Hopefully the Store Manager will make it right.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
They scratched the crap out of one of my rims a while back. They ended up having it refinished. I can't tell it was ever damaged. You would never have convinced me they could get the gouges out, but they did.

Try to contact the district manager or regional, they will usually have the authority to release payment for damage, either replacing if bad enough or correcting the damage and offering a compensation "for your troubles". Sorry for your bad experience, Welcome to TW! and congrats on new Taco :burnrubber:

I'm not sure they'd be able to get the pitted gouges out of the chrome looking portion that has thin lines in it and be able to recreate it to look original. But they didn't even offer to try to fix them.

Yes and I know some of you will think it's petty, but c'mon I just bought this truck brand new. Thought I was treating myself to upgrade the tires to some all terrrains and this is what I end up with.
